▶ Wisdom Preserves Her Followers
|

|
세상에서 처음으로 빚어진 조상, 홀로 창조된 그를 지혜가 보호하고 그가 지은 죄에서 구해 주었으며

▶ She preserved the first-formed father of the world when he alone had been created; And she raised him up from his fall,

그에게 만물을 통치할 힘을 주었다.

▶ and gave him power to rule all things.

|
그러나 불의한 자가 분노하며 지혜에게 등을 돌리더니 광분하여 제 동기를 살해한 탓에 죽어 없어지고 말았다.

▶ But when the unjust man withdrew from her in his anger, he perished through his fratricidal wrath.

|
그 사람 때문에 세상이 홍수에 잠기자 지혜는 한 의인을 변변찮은 나뭇조각에 실어서 이끈 끝에 세상을 다시 구하였다.

▶ When on his account the earth was flooded, Wisdom again saved it, piloting the just man on frailest wood.

악을 저지르기로 합심한 민족들이 혼란에 빠졌을 때 지혜는 한 의인을 가려내어 하느님 앞에 흠이 없도록 지켜 주고 자식에 대한 애정을 이기도록 강하게 만들어 주었다.

▶ She, when the nations were sunk in universal wickedness, knew the just man, kept him blameless before God, and preserved him resolute against pity for his child.

|
지혜는 악인들이 아주 멸망할 때에 의인 하나를 구해 내어 다섯 성읍에 떨어지는 불을 피하여 달아나게 해 주었다.

▶ She delivered the just man from among the wicked who were being destroyed, when he fled as fire descended upon Pentapolis -

그들이 저지른 악의 증거가 아직도 남아 있으니 줄곧 연기가 피어오르는 황무지, 때가 되어도 익지 않는 열매를 매단 나무들, 믿지 않는 영혼의 기념비로 서 있는 소금 기둥이다.

▶ Where as a testimony to its wickedness, there yet remain a smoking desert, Plants bearing fruit that never ripens, and the tomb of a disbelieving soul, a standing pillar of salt.

지혜를 무시한 그들은 선을 깨닫지 못하게 방해를 받았을 뿐만 아니라 살아 있는 이들에게 어리석음의 기념물까지 남겨 그들의 잘못이 드러나지 않을 수 없게 되었다.

▶ For those who forsook Wisdom first were bereft of knowledge of the right, And then they left mankind a memorial of their folly - so that they could not even be hidden in their fall.

그러나 지혜는 자기를 섬기는 이들을 곤경에서 구해 내었다.

▶ But Wisdom delivered from tribulations those who served her.
|
|

|
의인이 형의 분노를 피하여 달아날 때 지혜는 그를 바른길로 이끌고 하느님의 나라를 보여 주었으며 거룩한 것들을 알려 주었다. 고생하는 그를 번영하게 하고 그 노고의 결실이 불어나게 하였으며

▶ She, when the just man fled from his brother's anger, guided him in direct ways, Showed him the kingdom of God and gave him knowledge of holy things; She prospered him in his labors and made abundant the fruit of his works,

착취자들이 탐욕을 부릴 때에 그 곁에 있어 주고 그를 부자로 만들어 주었다.

▶ Stood by him against the greed of his defrauders, and enriched him;
|
|

|
또 그를 원수들에게서 지키고 매복한 적들에게서 보호하였으며 격렬한 싸움이 벌어졌을 때에 그에게 승리를 주어 깊은 신심이 그 무엇보다도 강함을 깨닫게 해 주었다.

▶ She preserved him from foes, and secured him against ambush, And she gave him the prize for his stern struggle that he might know that devotion to God is mightier than all else.

|
의인이 팔려 갈 때에 지혜는 그를 버리지 않고 죄악에서 구해 내었으며

▶ She did not abandon the just man when he was sold, but delivered him from sin.
|
|

|
또 그와 함께 구덩이로 내려가고 사슬에 묶였을 때에 그를 저버리지 않았다. 마침내는 그에게 나라의 왕홀과 그를 지배하던 자들을 다스리는 권위를 주었다. 그리고 그를 고발한 자들의 거짓을 밝히고 그에게 영원한 영광을 주었다.

▶ She went down with him into the dungeon, and did not desert him in his bonds, Until she brought him the scepter of royalty and authority over his oppressors, Showed those who had defamed him false, and gave him eternal glory.

거룩한 백성, 흠 없는 종족을 지혜는 압박자들의 나라에서 구해 내었다.

▶ The holy people and blameless race - it was she who delivered them from the nation that oppressed them.
|
|

|
지혜는 주님을 섬기는 종의 영혼 안으로 들어가 기적과 표징들을 일으키며 무서운 임금들과 맞섰다.

|
|
|
▶ She entered the soul of the LORD'S servant, and withstood fearsome kings with signs and portents;

|
거룩한 이들에게 그 노고에 맞는 상급을 주고 그들을 놀라운 길로 이끌었다. 낮에는 그들에게 그늘이 되어 주고 밤에는 별빛이 되어 주었다.

▶ she gave the holy ones the recompense of their labors, Conducted them by a wondrous road, and became a shelter for them by day and a starry flame by night.

또 그들을 홍해 너머로 데려가고 깊은 물을 가로질러 인도하였다.

▶ She took them across the Red Sea and brought them through the deep waters -

그들의 원수들을 물로 뒤덮었다가 깊은 바다 밑바닥에서 위로 내던져 버렸다.

▶ But their enemies she overwhelmed, and cast them up from the bottom of the depths.

|
그리하여 의인들이 악인들에게서 전리품을 거두고 나서 주님, 당신의 거룩한 이름을 찬송하고 자기들을 지켜 주신 당신의 손을 한마음으로 찬양하였습니다.

▶ Therefore the just despoiled the wicked; and they sang, O LORD, your holy name

지혜가 말못하는 이들의 입을 열어 주고 아기들의 혀가 똑똑히 말하게 해 준 것입니다.

▶ Because Wisdom opened the mouths of the dumb, and gave ready speech to infants.
