그러면 보는 자들의 눈은 더 이상 들러붙지 않고 듣는 자들의 귀는 잘 듣게 되리라.

분별없는 자들의 마음은 깨달음을 얻고 더듬거리는 자들의 혀는 분명하고 거침없이 말하리라.

▶ The flighty will become wise and capable, and the stutterers will speak fluently and clearly.

어리석은 자를 더 이상 고귀한 이라 부르지 않고 간교한 자를 더 이상 존귀한 이라 말하지 않으리라.

▶ The fool will no longer be called generous, nor the rascal be styled bountiful.

어리석은 자는 어리석은 것을 말하고 마음으로 죄악을 지어 내어 불경한 짓을 저지르며 주님을 거슬러 배신을 말하고 굶주린 이의 속을 빈 채로 버려두며 목마른 이에게 마실 것을 주지 않는다.

태평스러운 여인들아, 한 해가 조금 지나면 너희는 무서워 떨게 되리니 포도 수확은 망치고 곡식 추수 때는 오지 않을 것이기 때문이다.

걱정 없이 사는 여인들아, 몸서리쳐라. 태평스러운 여인들아, 무서워 떨어라. 옷을 벗고 알몸이 되어 허리에 자루 조각을 둘러라.

찔레나무와 가시덤불이 올라오는 내 백성의 땅을 생각하며. 기쁨이 넘치던 그 모든 집들과 흥겨워하던 도시를 생각하며 가슴을 쳐라.

▶ And the soil of my people, overgrown with thorns and briers; For all the joyful houses, the wanton city.

정녕 궁궐은 버려지고 붐비던 도성은 황량해지며 언덕과 망대는 영원히 짐승의 소굴이 되어 들나귀들의 기쁨이 되고 가축들의 풀밭이 되리라.

그러나 마침내 하늘에서 영이 우리 위에 쏟아져 내려 광야는 과수원이 되고 과수원은 숲으로 여겨지리라.
