그때에 발아단의 아들인 바빌론 임금 므로닥 발아단이, 히즈키야가 병들었다가 나았다는 소식을 듣고 그에게 편지와 예물을 보냈다.

▶ At that time when Merodach-baladan, son of Baladan, king of Babylon, heard that Hezekiah had recovered from his sickness, he sent letters and gifts to him.
|

|
히즈키야는 그들을 반가이 맞아들이고, 그들에게 자기의 보물 창고와 은과 금, 향료와 고급 기름, 병기고 전체와 창고 안에 있는 것을 다 보여 주었다. 히즈키야가 자기 궁궐과 나라 안에 있는 것 가운데 그들에게 보여 주지 않은 것은 하나도 없었다.

▶ Hezekiah was pleased at this, and therefore showed the messengers his treasury, the silver and gold, the spices and fine oil, his whole armory, and everything that was in his storerooms; there was nothing in his house or in his whole realm that he did not show them.

그때에 이사야 예언자가 히즈키야 임금에게 와서 물었다. “이 사람들이 무슨 말을 하였습니까? 어디에서 왔습니까?” 히즈키야가 대답하였다. “먼 나라에서 나를 찾아온 사람들이오. 바빌론에서 왔소.”

▶ Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and asked him, "What did these men say to you? Where did they come from?" Hezekiah answered, "They came to me from a distant land, from Babylon."

이사야가 다시 물었다. “그들이 임금님의 궁궐에서 무엇을 보았습니까?” 히즈키야가 대답하였다. “내 궁궐 안에 있는 것을 다 보았소. 내 창고 안에 있는 것 가운데 내가 그들에게 보여 주지 않은 것은 하나도 없소.”

▶ "What did they see in your house?" he asked. Hezekiah replied, "They saw everything in my house; there is nothing in my storerooms that I did not show them."

그러자 이사야가 히즈키야에게 말하였다. “만군의 주님의 말씀을 들으십시오.

▶ Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:

‘보라, 네 궁궐 안에 있는 모든 것과 네 조상들이 오늘날까지 쌓아 온 것들이 바빌론으로 옮겨져, 하나도 남지 않을 날이 다가오고 있다. 주님이 말한다.

▶ Behold, the days shall come when all that is in your house, and everything that your fathers have stored up until this day, shall be carried off to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says the LORD.

너에게서 태어날 아들들 가운데 더러는 끌려가서 바빌론 왕궁의 내시가 될 것이다.’”

▶ Some of your own bodily descendants shall be taken and made servants in the palace of the king of Babylon."

히즈키야가 이사야에게 말하였다. “그대가 전한 주님의 말씀은 지당하오.” 그러면서도 그는 ‘내가 살아 있는 동안은 평화와 안정이 지속되겠지.’ 하고 생각하였다.

▶ Hezekiah replied to Isaiah, "The word of the LORD which you have spoken is favorable." For he thought, "There will be peace and security in my lifetime."
