This is what the Lord GOD showed me: a basket of ripe fruit.

▶ 주 하느님께서 나에게 이러한 것을 보여 주셨다. 그것은 여름 과일 한 바구니였다.
|

|
"What do you see, Amos?" he asked. I answered, "A basket of ripe fruit." Then the LORD said to me: The time is ripe to have done with my people Israel; I will forgive them no longer.

▶ 그분께서 “아모스야, 무엇이 보이느냐?” 하고 물으시기에, 내가 “여름 과일 한 바구니입니다.” 하고 대답하였다. 그러자 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. “내 백성 이스라엘에게 종말이 다가왔다. 나는 더 이상 그들을 그냥 지나쳐 버리지 않으리라.

The temple songs shall become wailings on that day, says the Lord GOD. Many shall be the corpses, strewn everywhere. - Silence!

▶ 그날에 성전의 노래가 통곡으로 바뀌리라. 주 하느님의 말씀이다. 시체가 너무 많아 온갖 곳으로 던져지리라. 조용히 하여라!”

▶ 속이고 착취하는 자들을 거슬러

Hear this, you who trample upon the needy and destroy the poor of the land!

▶ 빈곤한 이를 짓밟고 이 땅의 가난한 이를 망하게 하는 자들아 이 말을 들어라!

"When will the new moon be over," you ask, "that we may sell our grain, and the sabbath, that we may display the wheat? We will diminish the ephah, add to the shekel, and fix our scales for cheating!

▶ 너희는 말한다. “언제면 초하룻날이 지나서 곡식을 내다 팔지? 언제면 안식일이 지나서 밀을 내놓지? 에파는 작게, 세켈은 크게 하고 가짜 저울로 속이자.

We will buy the lowly man for silver, and the poor man for a pair of sandals; even the refuse of the wheat we will sell!"

▶ 힘없는 자를 돈으로 사들이고 빈곤한 자를 신 한 켤레 값으로 사들이자. 지스러기 밀도 내다 팔자.”

The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Never will I forget a thing they have done!

▶ 주님께서 야곱의 자만을 두고 맹세하셨다. “나는 그들의 모든 행동을 결코 잊지 않으리라.

Shall not the land tremble because of this, and all who dwell in it mourn, While it rises up and tosses like the Nile, and settles back like the river of Egypt?

▶ 그 때문에 땅이 뒤흔들리고 온 주민이 통곡하지 않겠느냐? 온 땅이 나일 강처럼 불어 오르고 이집트의 나일 강처럼 부풀었다가 잦아들지 않겠느냐?”

On that day, says the Lord GOD, I will make the sun set at midday and cover the earth with darkness in broad daylight.

▶ 주 하느님의 말씀이다. 그날에 나는 한낮에 해가 지게 하고 대낮에 땅이 캄캄하게 하리라.

I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentations. I will cover the loins of all with sackcloth and make every head bald. I will make them mourn as for an only son, and bring their day to a bitter end.

▶ 너희의 축제를 슬픔으로, 너희의 모든 노래를 애가로 바꾸리라. 나는 모든 사람이 허리에 자루옷을 두르고 머리는 모두 대머리가 되어 외아들을 잃은 것처럼 통곡하게 하고 그 끝을 비통한 날로 만들리라.

Yes, days are coming, says the Lord GOD, when I will send famine upon the land: Not a famine of bread, or thirst for water, but for hearing the word of the LORD.

▶ 보라, 그날이 온다. 주 하느님의 말씀이다. 내가 이 땅에 굶주림을 보내리라. 양식이 없어 굶주리는 것이 아니고 물이 없어 목마른 것이 아니라 주님의 말씀을 듣지 못하여 굶주리는 것이다.

Then shall they wander from sea to sea and rove from the north to the east In search of the word of the LORD, but they shall not find it.

▶ 그들이 주님의 말씀을 찾아 이 바다에서 저 바다로 헤매고 북쪽에서 동쪽으로 떠돌아다녀도 찾아내지 못하리라.

On that day, fair virgins and young men shall faint from thirst;
|

▶ 그날에 아름다운 처녀 총각들이 목이 말라 지쳐 쓰러지리라.

|
Those who swear by the shameful idol of Samaria, "By the life of your god, O Dan!" "By the life of your love, O Beersheba!" those shall fall, never to rise again.

▶ 사마리아의 죄악을 두고 맹세하는 자들, “단아, 살아 계신 너의 신을 두고 맹세한다.” “브에르 세바로 가는 길을 두고 맹세한다.” 하는 자들은 쓰러져 다시는 일어나지 못하리라.
