▶ For in fact we have received the good news just as they did. But the word that they heard did not profit them, for they were not united in faith with those who listened.

믿음을 가진 우리는 안식처로 들어갑니다. 그것은 하느님께서 “그리하여 나는 분노하며 맹세하였다. ‘그들은 내 안식처에 들어가지 못하리라.’” 하고 말씀하신 그대로입니다. 안식처는 물론 하느님께서 만드신 것들은 세상 창조 때부터 이미 다 이루어져 있었습니다.

▶ For we who believed enter into (that) rest, just as he has said: "As I swore in my wrath, 'They shall not enter into my rest,'" and yet his works were accomplished at the foundation of the world.

▶ Therefore, since it remains that some will enter into it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience,

하느님께서는 다시 “오늘”이라는 날을 정하셨습니다. 앞서 인용한 대로 오랜 세월이 지난 뒤에 다윗을 통하여 “오늘 너희가 그분의 소리를 듣거든 마음을 완고하게 갖지 마라.” 하고 말씀하실 때에 그리하신 것입니다.

▶ And whoever enters into God's rest, rests from his own works as God did from his.

그러니 그와 같은 불순종의 본을 따르다가 떨어져 나가는 사람이 없게, 우리 모두 저 안식처에 들어가도록 힘씁시다.

▶ Therefore, let us strive to enter into that rest, so that no one may fall after the same example of disobedience.

사실 하느님의 말씀은 살아 있고 힘이 있으며 어떤 쌍날칼보다도 날카롭습니다. 그래서 사람 속을 꿰찔러 혼과 영을 가르고 관절과 골수를 갈라, 마음의 생각과 속셈을 가려냅니다.

▶ Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.

하느님 앞에서는 어떠한 피조물도 감추어져 있을 수 없습니다. 그분 눈에는 모든 것이 벌거숭이로 드러나 있습니다. 이러한 하느님께 우리는 셈을 해 드려야 하는 것입니다.

그런데 우리에게는 하늘 위로 올라가신 위대한 대사제가 계십니다. 하느님의 아들 예수님이십니다. 그러니 우리가 고백하는 신앙을 굳게 지켜 나아갑시다.

▶ Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession.

우리에게는 우리의 연약함을 동정하지 못하는 대사제가 아니라, 모든 면에서 우리와 똑같이 유혹을 받으신, 그러나 죄는 짓지 않으신 대사제가 계십니다.

▶ For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin.

그러므로 확신을 가지고 은총의 어좌로 나아갑시다. 그리하여 자비를 얻고 은총을 받아 필요할 때에 도움이 되게 합시다.
