우찌야는 배토메스타임, 코바, 콜라를 비롯하여 유다 전역에 사람들을 보내어, 그때까지 일어난 일을 알리고 모두 적들에게 돌진하여 그들을 몰살시키라고 하였다.

▶ Uzziah sent messengers to Betomasthaim, to Choba and Kona, and to the whole country of Israel to report what had happened, that all might fall upon the enemy and destroy them.

이스라엘 자손들은 그 말을 듣고 일제히 적들에게 달려들어 코바까지 쫓아가며 그들을 쳐 죽였다. 예루살렘과 온 산악 지방 사람들도 적군들의 진지에서 일어난 일을 전해 듣고 나왔다. 또 길앗과 갈릴래아 사람들도 다마스쿠스와 그 경계선을 넘어갈 때까지 그들을 쫓아가면서, 양옆으로 공격하여 그들에게 큰 타격을 입혔다.

▶ On hearing this, all the Israelites, with one accord, attacked them and cut them down as far as Choba. Even those from Jerusalem and the rest of the mountain region took part in this, for they too had been notified of the happenings in the camp of their enemies. The Gileadites and the Galileans struck the enemy's flanks with great slaughter, even beyond Damascus and its territory.

그러고도 남은 것은 적군을 쳐 죽이고 돌아오던 이스라엘 자손들이 차지하였다. 산악 지방과 평야의 마을과 동네들도 많은 노획물을 손에 넣었다. 노획할 것이 그처럼 아주 많았던 것이다.

여호야킴 대사제와 예루살렘에 사는 이스라엘 자손들의 원로단이, 주님께서 이스라엘에 하신 좋은 일을 보고 또 유딧을 만나 인사하려고 왔다.

▶ The high priest Joakim and the elders of the Israelites, who dwelt in Jerusalem, came to see for themselves the good things that the Lord had done for Israel, and to meet and congratulate Judith.

그들은 유딧의 집에 들어가 모두 이렇게 말하면서, 일제히 유딧을 축복하였다. “그대는 예루살렘의 영예고 이스라엘의 큰 영광이며 우리 겨레의 큰 자랑이오.

▶ When they had visited her, all with one accord blessed her, saying: "You are the glory of Jerusalem, the surpassing joy of Israel; You are the splendid boast of our people.

그대는 이 모든 일을 그대의 손으로 이루었소. 그대는 이스라엘에 좋은 일을 하였소. 하느님께서도 그 일을 기쁘게 여기신다오. 그대가 전능하신 주님께 영원히 복을 받기 바라오.” 그러자 온 백성이 “아멘!” 하고 응답하였다.

온 백성은 적의 진영을 서른 날 동안 노획하였다. 그런 다음 홀로페르네스의 천막과 그의 모든 은 기물과 침상들과 그릇들, 그리고 그의 모든 가구를 유딧에게 주었다. 유딧은 그것들을 받아 자기의 노새에 싣고 수레들을 준비하여 거기에도 쌓았다.

이스라엘의 모든 여자가 유딧을 보러 달려와서 그를 축복하고, 그들 가운데 몇 사람은 유딧을 위하여 춤을 추었다. 유딧은 잎이 무성한 가지들을 가져다가 자기와 함께 있는 여자들에게 나누어 주었다.

▶ All the women of Israel gathered to see her; and they blessed her and performed a dance in her honor. She took branches in her hands and distributed them to the women around her,

또 유딧은 함께 있던 이들과 올리브 가지로 관을 만들어 썼다. 그런 다음에 유딧은 춤추는 모든 여자를 인도하며 온 백성의 앞장을 섰다. 무장을 갖춘 이스라엘의 모든 남자는 화관을 쓰고 입으로는 찬미가를 부르며 그들을 뒤따랐다.

▶ and she and the other women crowned themselves with garlands of olive leaves. At the head of all the people, she led the women in the dance, while the men of Israel followed in their armor, wearing garlands and singing hymns.

그때에 유딧이 모든 이스라엘 사람 앞에서 감사 노래를 부르기 시작하였다. 온 백성도 이 찬양가를 큰 소리로 따라 불렀다.
