|
On another occasion he began to teach by the sea. A very large crowd gathered around him so that he got into a boat on the sea and sat down. And the whole crowd was beside the sea on land.

▶ 예수님께서 다시 호숫가에서 가르치기 시작하셨다. 너무 많은 군중이 모여들어, 그분께서는 호수에 있는 배에 올라앉으시고 군중은 모두 호숫가 뭍에 그대로 있었다.

And he taught them at length in parables, and in the course of his instruction he said to them,

▶ 예수님께서 그들에게 많은 것을 비유로 가르치셨다. 그렇게 가르치시면서 말씀하셨다.

"Hear this! A sower went out to sow.
|

▶ “자, 들어 보아라. 씨 뿌리는 사람이 씨를 뿌리러 나갔다.
|
|

|
And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and the birds came and ate it up.
|

▶ 그가 씨를 뿌리는데, 어떤 것은 길에 떨어져 새들이 와서 먹어 버렸다.
|

|
Other seed fell on rocky ground where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep.
|

|
▶ 어떤 것은 흙이 많지 않은 돌밭에 떨어졌다. 흙이 깊지 않아 싹은 곧 돋아났지만,

And when the sun rose, it was scorched and it withered for lack of roots.
|

|
▶ 해가 솟아오르자 타고 말았다. 뿌리가 없어서 말라 버린 것이다.
|
|

|
Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it and it produced no grain.
|

|
|
▶ 또 어떤 것은 가시덤불 속에 떨어졌는데, 가시덤불이 자라면서 숨을 막아 버려 열매를 맺지 못하였다.
|

|
And some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit. It came up and grew and yielded thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold."

▶ 그러나 어떤 것들은 좋은 땅에 떨어져, 싹이 나고 자라서 열매를 맺었다. 그리하여 어떤 것은 서른 배, 어떤 것은 예순 배, 어떤 것은 백 배의 열매를 맺었다.”

He added, "Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear."
|

▶ 예수님께서는 이어서 말씀하셨다. “들을 귀 있는 사람은 들어라.”

The Purpose of the Parables

And when he was alone, those present along with the Twelve questioned him about the parables.

|
▶ 예수님께서 혼자 계실 때, 그분 둘레에 있던 이들이 열두 제자와 함께 와서 비유들의 뜻을 물었다.

He answered them, "The mystery of the kingdom of God has been granted to you. But to those outside everything comes in parables,
|

▶ 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하셨다. “너희에게는 하느님 나라의 신비가 주어졌지만, 저 바깥 사람들에게는 모든 것이 그저 비유로만 다가간다.
|

so that 'they may look and see but not perceive, and hear and listen but not understand, in order that they may not be converted and be forgiven.'"

▶ ‘보고 또 보아도 알아보지 못하고 듣고 또 들어도 깨닫지 못하여 저들이 돌아와 용서받는 일이 없게 하려는 것이다.’”

Jesus said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? Then how will you understand any of the parables?

▶ 예수님께서 또 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “너희는 이 비유를 알아듣지 못하겠느냐? 그러면서 어떻게 모든 비유를 깨달을 수 있겠느냐?

|
The sower sows the word.
|

|
|
|
|
▶ 씨 뿌리는 사람은 실상 말씀을 뿌리는 것이다.
|
|

|
These are the ones on the path where the word is sown. As soon as they hear, Satan comes at once and takes away the word sown in them.
|

|
|
|
|
▶ 말씀이 길에 뿌려지는 것은 이러한 사람들을 두고 하는 말이다. 그들이 말씀을 들으면 곧바로 사탄이 와서 그들 안에 뿌려진 말씀을 앗아 가 버린다.
|

|
And these are the ones sown on rocky ground who, when they hear the word, receive it at once with joy.
|

|
|
|
▶ 그리고 말씀이 돌밭에 뿌려지는 것은 이러한 사람들이다. 그들은 말씀을 들으면 곧 기쁘게 받는다.
|
|

|
But they have no root; they last only for a time. Then when tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
|

|
|
▶ 그러나 그들에게 뿌리가 없어서 오래가지 못한다. 그래서 말씀 때문에 환난이나 박해가 일어나면 곧 걸려 넘어지고 만다.

|
Those sown among thorns are another sort. They are the people who hear the word,

▶ 말씀이 가시덤불 속에 뿌려지는 것은 또 다른 사람들이다. 이들은 말씀을 듣기는 하지만,

|
but worldly anxiety, the lure of riches, and the craving for other things intrude and choke the word, and it bears no fruit.
|

|
|
▶ 세상 걱정과 재물의 유혹과 그 밖의 여러 가지 욕심이 들어가, 그 말씀의 숨을 막아 버려 열매를 맺지 못한다.

|
But those sown on rich soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit thirty and sixty and a hundredfold."
|

|
|
▶ 그러나 말씀이 좋은 땅에 뿌려진 것은 이러한 사람들이다. 그들은 말씀을 듣고 받아들여, 어떤 이는 서른 배, 어떤 이는 예순 배, 어떤 이는 백 배의 열매를 맺는다.”

He said to them, "Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed, and not to be placed on a lampstand?

For there is nothing hidden except to be made visible; nothing is secret except to come to light.

▶ 숨겨진 것도 드러나기 마련이고 감추어진 것도 드러나게 되어 있다.

|

|
Anyone who has ears to hear ought to hear."
|

|
|
▶ 누구든지 들을 귀가 있거든 들어라.”
|
|

|
He also told them, "Take care what you hear. The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you, and still more will be given to you.
|

▶ 예수님께서 다시 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “너희는 새겨들어라. 너희가 되어서 주는 만큼 되어서 받고 거기에 더 보태어 받을 것이다.

To the one who has, more will be given; from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away."

He said,"This is how it is with the kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land

▶ 예수님께서 또 말씀하셨다. “하느님의 나라는 이와 같다. 어떤 사람이 땅에 씨를 뿌려 놓으면,

and would sleep and rise night and day and the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how.

|
▶ 밤에 자고 낮에 일어나고 하는 사이에 씨는 싹이 터서 자라는데, 그 사람은 어떻게 그리되는지 모른다.

|
Of its own accord the land yields fruit, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
|

▶ 땅이 저절로 열매를 맺게 하는데, 처음에는 줄기가, 다음에는 이삭이 나오고 그다음에는 이삭에 낟알이 영근다.

|
And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come."
|

The Mustard Seed

He said, "To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it?

▶ 예수님께서 다시 말씀하셨다. “하느님의 나라를 무엇에 비길까? 무슨 비유로 그것을 나타낼까?

|
It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth.
|

|
▶ 하느님의 나라는 겨자씨와 같다. 땅에 뿌릴 때에는 세상의 어떤 씨앗보다도 작다.
|

|
But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade."

▶ 그러나 땅에 뿌려지면 자라나서 어떤 풀보다도 커지고 큰 가지들을 뻗어, 하늘의 새들이 그 그늘에 깃들일 수 있게 된다.”

With many such parables he spoke the word to them as they were able to understand it.

Without parables he did not speak to them, but to his own disciples he explained everything in private.

The Calming of a Storm at Sea

On that day, as evening drew on, he said to them, "Let us cross to the other side."

▶ 그날 저녁이 되자 예수님께서 제자들에게, “호수 저쪽으로 건너가자.” 하고 말씀하셨다.

|
Leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him.
|

|
|
|
|
▶ 그래서 그들이 군중을 남겨 둔 채, 배에 타고 계신 예수님을 그대로 모시고 갔는데, 다른 배들도 그분을 뒤따랐다.

A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up.
|

|
▶ 그때에 거센 돌풍이 일어 물결이 배 안으로 들이쳐서, 물이 배에 거의 가득 차게 되었다.

|
Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"

▶ 그런데도 예수님께서는 고물에서 베개를 베고 주무시고 계셨다. 제자들이 예수님을 깨우며, “스승님, 저희가 죽게 되었는데도 걱정되지 않으십니까?” 하고 말하였다.

He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Quiet! Be still!" The wind ceased and there was great calm.
|

▶ 그러자 예수님께서 깨어나시어 바람을 꾸짖으시고 호수더러, “잠잠해져라. 조용히 하여라!” 하시니 바람이 멎고 아주 고요해졌다.

Then he asked them, "Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?"
|

▶ 예수님께서는 그들에게, “왜 겁을 내느냐? 아직도 믿음이 없느냐?” 하고 말씀하셨다.

|
They were filled with great awe and said to one another, "Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?"

|
|
▶ 그들은 큰 두려움에 사로잡혀 서로 말하였다. “도대체 이분이 누구시기에 바람과 호수까지 복종하는가?”
