▶ For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed you from the law of sin and death.

율법이 육으로 말미암아 나약해져 이룰 수 없던 것을 하느님께서 이루셨습니다. 곧 당신의 친아드님을 죄 많은 육의 모습을 지닌 속죄 제물로 보내시어 그 육 안에서 죄를 처단하셨습니다.

▶ For what the law, weakened by the flesh, was powerless to do, this God has done: by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for the sake of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

이는 육이 아니라 성령에 따라 살아가는 우리 안에서, 율법이 요구하는 바가 채워지게 하려는 것이었습니다.

▶ so that the righteous decree of the law might be fulfilled in us, who live not according to the flesh but according to the spirit.

무릇 육을 따르는 자들은 육에 속한 것을 생각하고, 성령을 따르는 이들은 성령에 속한 것을 생각합니다.

▶ For those who live according to the flesh are concerned with the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit with the things of the spirit.

육의 관심사는 죽음이고 성령의 관심사는 생명과 평화입니다.

▶ The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace.

|
육의 관심사는 하느님을 적대하는 것이기 때문입니다. 사실 그것은 하느님의 법에 복종하지 않을 뿐만 아니라 복종할 수도 없습니다.

▶ For the concern of the flesh is hostility toward God; it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it;

육 안에 있는 자들은 하느님 마음에 들 수 없습니다.

▶ and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
|
|

|
그러나 하느님의 영이 여러분 안에 사시기만 하면, 여러분은 육 안에 있지 않고 성령 안에 있게 됩니다. 누구든지 그리스도의 영을 모시고 있지 않으면, 그는 그리스도께 속한 사람이 아닙니다.

▶ But you are not in the flesh; on the contrary, you are in the spirit, if only the Spirit of God dwells in you. Whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

그러나 그리스도께서 여러분 안에 계시면, 몸은 비록 죄 때문에 죽은 것이 되지만, 의로움 때문에 성령께서 여러분의 생명이 되어 주십니다.

▶ But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is alive because of righteousness.

예수님을 죽은 이들 가운데에서 일으키신 분의 영께서 여러분 안에 사시면, 그리스도를 죽은 이들 가운데에서 일으키신 분께서 여러분 안에 사시는 당신의 영을 통하여 여러분의 죽을 몸도 다시 살리실 것입니다.

▶ If the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also, through his Spirit that dwells in you.

그러므로 형제 여러분, 우리는 육에 따라 살도록 육에 빚을 진 사람이 아닙니다.

▶ Consequently, brothers, we are not debtors to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

|
여러분이 육에 따라 살면 죽을 것입니다. 그러나 성령의 힘으로 몸의 행실을 죽이면 살 것입니다.

▶ For if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

하느님의 영의 인도를 받는 이들은 모두 하느님의 자녀입니다.

|
▶ For those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
|
|

|
여러분은 사람을 다시 두려움에 빠뜨리는 종살이의 영을 받은 것이 아니라, 여러분을 자녀로 삼도록 해 주시는 영을 받았습니다. 이 성령의 힘으로 우리가 “아빠! 아버지!” 하고 외치는 것입니다.

▶ For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, "Abba, Father!"

|
그리고 이 성령께서 몸소, 우리가 하느님의 자녀임을 우리의 영에게 증언해 주십니다.

▶ The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

|
자녀이면 상속자이기도 합니다. 우리는 하느님의 상속자입니다. 그리스도와 더불어 공동 상속자인 것입니다. 다만 그리스도와 함께 영광을 누리려면 그분과 함께 고난을 받아야 합니다.

▶ and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.

장차 우리에게 계시될 영광에 견주면, 지금 이 시대에 우리가 겪는 고난은 아무것도 아니라고 생각합니다.

▶ I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us.

사실 피조물은 하느님의 자녀들이 나타나기를 간절히 기다리고 있습니다.

▶ For creation awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children of God;
|
|

|
피조물이 허무의 지배 아래 든 것은 자의가 아니라 그렇게 하신 분의 뜻이었습니다. 그러나 그것은 희망을 간직하고 있습니다.

▶ for creation was made subject to futility, not of its own accord but because of the one who subjected it, in hope

피조물도 멸망의 종살이에서 해방되어, 하느님의 자녀들이 누리는 영광의 자유를 얻을 것입니다.

▶ that creation itself would be set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God.

▶ We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now;

그러나 피조물만이 아니라 성령을 첫 선물로 받은 우리 자신도 하느님의 자녀가 되기를, 우리의 몸이 속량되기를 기다리며 속으로 탄식하고 있습니다.

▶ and not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

사실 우리는 희망으로 구원을 받았습니다. 보이는 것을 희망하는 것은 희망이 아닙니다. 보이는 것을 누가 희망합니까?

▶ For in hope we were saved. Now hope that sees for itself is not hope. For who hopes for what one sees?

우리는 보이지 않는 것을 희망하기에 인내심을 가지고 기다립니다.

▶ But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance.
|

|
이와 같이, 성령께서도 나약한 우리를 도와주십니다. 우리는 올바른 방식으로 기도할 줄 모르지만, 성령께서 몸소 말로 다할 수 없이 탄식하시며 우리를 대신하여 간구해 주십니다.

▶ In the same way, the Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes with inexpressible groanings.

마음속까지 살펴보시는 분께서는 이러한 성령의 생각이 무엇인지 아십니다. 성령께서 하느님의 뜻에 따라 성도들을 위하여 간구하시기 때문입니다.

▶ And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because it intercedes for the holy ones according to God's will.

하느님을 사랑하는 이들, 그분의 계획에 따라 부르심을 받은 이들에게는 모든 것이 함께 작용하여 선을 이룬다는 것을 우리는 압니다.

▶ We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

하느님께서는 미리 뽑으신 이들을 당신의 아드님과 같은 모상이 되도록 미리 정하셨습니다. 그리하여 그 아드님께서 많은 형제 가운데 맏이가 되게 하셨습니다.

▶ For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

그렇게 미리 정하신 이들을 또한 부르셨고, 부르신 이들을 또한 의롭게 하셨으며, 의롭게 하신 이들을 또한 영광스럽게 해 주셨습니다.

▶ And those he predestined he also called; and those he called he also justified; and those he justified he also glorified.

|
하느님의 사랑과 믿는 이들의 확신

|
그렇다면 우리가 이와 관련하여 무엇이라고 말해야 합니까? 하느님께서 우리 편이신데 누가 우리를 대적하겠습니까?

▶ What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

|
당신의 친아드님마저 아끼지 않으시고 우리 모두를 위하여 내어 주신 분께서, 어찌 그 아드님과 함께 모든 것을 우리에게 베풀어 주지 않으시겠습니까?

▶ He who did not spare his own Son but handed him over for us all, how will he not also give us everything else along with him?

하느님께 선택된 이들을 누가 고발할 수 있겠습니까? 그들을 의롭게 해 주시는 분은 하느님이십니다.

▶ Who will bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who acquits us.

누가 그들을 단죄할 수 있겠습니까? 돌아가셨다가 참으로 되살아나신 분, 또 하느님의 오른쪽에 앉아 계신 분, 그리고 우리를 위하여 간구해 주시는 분이 바로 그리스도 예수님이십니다.

▶ Who will condemn? It is Christ (Jesus) who died, rather, was raised, who also is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us.

무엇이 우리를 그리스도의 사랑에서 갈라놓을 수 있겠습니까? 환난입니까? 역경입니까? 박해입니까? 굶주림입니까? 헐벗음입니까? 위험입니까? 칼입니까?

▶ What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?

이는 성경에 기록된 그대로입니다. “저희는 온종일 당신 때문에 살해되며 도살될 양처럼 여겨집니다.”

저 높은 곳도, 저 깊은 곳도, 그 밖의 어떠한 피조물도 우리 주 그리스도 예수님에게서 드러난 하느님의 사랑에서 우리를 떼어 놓을 수 없습니다.

▶ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
