한 남자의 씨와 잠자리의 쾌락을 통하여 열 달 동안 피로 뭉쳐졌다.

▶ And I too, when born, inhaled the common air, and fell upon the kindred earth; wailing, I uttered that first sound common to all.

포대기에 싸여 보살핌을 받으며 자라났다.

▶ In swaddling clothes and with constant care I was nurtured.

임금도 모두 인생을 똑같이 시작한다.

삶의 시작도 끝도 모든 이에게 한가지다.

▶ but one is the entry into life for all; and in one same way they leave it.

솔로몬은 지혜를 존중하였다

▶ Solomon Prayed and Wisdom and Riches Came to Him

그래서 내가 기도하자 나에게 예지가 주어지고 간청을 올리자 지혜의 영이 나에게 왔다.

|
▶ Therefore I prayed, and prudence was given me; I pleaded and the spirit of Wisdom came to me.

나는 지혜를 왕홀과 왕좌보다 더 좋아하고 지혜에 비기면 많은 재산은 아무것도 아니라고 생각하였으며

▶ I preferred her to scepter and throne, And deemed riches nothing in comparison with her,

|

값을 헤아릴 수 없는 보석도 지혜와 견주지 않았다. 온 세상의 금도 지혜와 마주하면 한 줌의 모래이고 은도 지혜 앞에서는 진흙처럼 여겨지기 때문이다.

▶ nor did I liken any priceless gem to her; Because all gold, in view of her, is a little sand, and before her, silver is to be accounted mire.

나는 지혜를 건강이나 미모보다 더 사랑하고 빛보다 지혜를 갖기를 선호하였다. 지혜에서 끊임없이 광채가 나오기 때문이다.

▶ Beyond health and comeliness I loved her, And I chose to have her rather than the light, because the splendor of her never yields to sleep.

|
지혜와 함께 좋은 것이 다 나에게 왔다. 지혜의 손에 헤아릴 수 없이 많은 재산이 들려 있었다.

▶ Yet all good things together came to me in her company, and countless riches at her hands;
|
|

|
지혜가 이끌고 왔으므로 나는 그 모든 것을 즐겼다. 그러나 그것들이 지혜의 소산임을 몰랐다.

|
|
|
|
|
▶ And I rejoiced in them all, because Wisdom is their leader, though I had not known that she is the mother of these.

나는 욕심 없이 배웠으니 아낌없이 나누어 주고 지혜가 지닌 많은 재산을 감추지 않는다.

▶ Simply I learned about her, and ungrudgingly do I share - her riches I do not hide away;
|
|

|
지혜는 사람들에게 한량없는 보물, 지혜를 얻은 이들은 그 가르침이 주는 선물들의 추천으로 하느님의 벗이 된다.

|
|
|
|
▶ For to men she is an unfailing treasure; those who gain this treasure win the friendship of God, to whom the gifts they have from discipline commend them.

모든 지식의 원천이신 하느님과 지혜
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
하느님께서 내가 당신의 뜻에 따라 말하고 내가 받은 것들에 맞갖은 생각을 하게 해 주시기를 빈다. 그분께서 바로 지혜의 인도자이시고 현인들의 지도자이시며

|
|
▶ Now God grant I speak suitably and value these endowments at their worth: For he is the guide of Wisdom and the director of the wise.

우리 자신과 우리의 말이, 모든 예지와 일솜씨가 그분 손안에 있기 때문이다.

▶ For both we and our words are in his hand, as well as all prudence and knowledge of crafts.

바로 그분께서 만물에 관한 어김없는 지식을 주셔서 세계의 구조와 기본 요소들의 활동을 알게 해 주셨다.

▶ For he gave me sound knowledge of existing things, that I might know the organization of the universe and the force of its elements,

▶ The beginning and the end and the midpoint of times, the changes in the sun's course and the variations of the seasons.

▶ Cycles of years, positions of the stars,
|
|

|
짐승들의 본능과 야수들의 성질 영들의 힘과 사람들의 생각 갖가지 식물과 그 뿌리의 효험을 알게 해 주셨다.

|
|
|
▶ natures of animals, tempers of beasts, Powers of the winds and thoughts of men, uses of plants and virtues of roots

|
그리하여 나는 감추어진 것도 드러난 것도 알게 되었으니

▶ Such things as are hidden I learned and such as are plain;

지혜의 본성
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
모든 것을 만든 장인인 지혜가 나를 가르친 덕분이다. 지혜 안에 있는 정신은 명석하고 거룩하며 유일하고 다양하고 섬세하며 민첩하고 명료하고 청절하며 분명하고 손상될 수 없으며 선을 사랑하고 예리하며

자유롭고 자비롭고 인자하며 항구하고 확고하고 평온하며 전능하고 모든 것을 살핀다. 또 명석하고 깨끗하며 아주 섬세한 정신들을 모두 통찰한다.

▶ kindly, Firm, secure, tranquil, all-powerful, all-seeing, And pervading all spirits, though they be intelligent, pure and very subtle.

지혜는 어떠한 움직임보다 재빠르고 그 순수함으로 모든 것을 통달하고 통찰한다.

▶ For Wisdom is mobile beyond all motion, and she penetrates and pervades all things by reason of her purity.

|
지혜는 하느님 권능의 숨결이고 전능하신 분의 영광의 순전한 발산이어서 어떠한 오점도 그 안으로 기어들지 못한다.

|
▶ For she is an aura of the might of God and a pure effusion of the glory of the Almighty; therefore nought that is sullied enters into her.

지혜는 영원한 빛의 광채이고 하느님께서 하시는 활동의 티 없는 거울이며 하느님 선하심의 모상이다.

▶ For she is the refulgence of eternal light, the spotless mirror of the power of God, the image of his goodness.

|
지혜는 혼자이면서도 모든 것을 할 수 있고 자신 안에 머무르면서 모든 것을 새롭게 하며 대대로 거룩한 영혼들 안으로 들어가 그들을 하느님의 벗과 예언자로 만든다.

|
▶ And she, who is one, can do all things, and renews everything while herself perduring; And passing into holy souls from age to age, she produces friends of God and prophets.

그래서 하느님께서는 지혜와 함께 사는 사람만 사랑하신다.

▶ For there is nought God loves, be it not one who dwells with Wisdom.
|

지혜는 해보다 아름답고 어떠한 별자리보다 빼어나며 빛과 견주어 보아도 그보다 더 밝음을 알 수 있다.

|
|
▶ For she is fairer than the sun and surpasses every constellation of the stars. Compared to light, she takes precedence;

밤은 빛을 밀어내지만 악은 지혜를 이겨 내지 못한다.

|
▶ for that, indeed, night supplants, but wickedness prevails not over Wisdom.
