주간 첫날 이른 아침, 아직도 어두울 때에 마리아 막달레나가 무덤에 가서 보니, 무덤을 막았던 돌이 치워져 있었다.

▶ On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb.

그래서 그 여자는 시몬 베드로와 예수님께서 사랑하신 다른 제자에게 달려가서 말하였다. “누가 주님을 무덤에서 꺼내 갔습니다. 어디에 모셨는지 모르겠습니다.”

▶ So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, "They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put him."

▶ So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb.

두 사람이 함께 달렸는데, 다른 제자가 베드로보다 빨리 달려 무덤에 먼저 다다랐다.

▶ They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first;

그는 몸을 굽혀 아마포가 놓여 있는 것을 보기는 하였지만, 안으로 들어가지는 않았다.

▶ he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in.

|
시몬 베드로가 뒤따라와서 무덤으로 들어가 아마포가 놓여 있는 것을 보았다.

▶ When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there,

예수님의 얼굴을 쌌던 수건은 아마포와 함께 놓여 있지 않고, 따로 한곳에 개켜져 있었다.

|
|
▶ and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place.

|
그제야 무덤에 먼저 다다른 다른 제자도 들어갔다. 그리고 보고 믿었다.

|
|
▶ Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.

|
사실 그들은 예수님께서 죽은 이들 가운데에서 다시 살아나셔야 한다는 성경 말씀을 아직 깨닫지 못하고 있었던 것이다.

▶ For they did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead.

▶ But Mary stayed outside the tomb weeping. And as she wept, she bent over into the tomb

들여다보니 하얀 옷을 입은 두 천사가 앉아 있었다. 한 천사는 예수님의 시신이 놓였던 자리 머리맡에, 다른 천사는 발치에 있었다.

▶ and saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had been.

그들이 마리아에게 “여인아, 왜 우느냐?” 하고 묻자, 마리아가 그들에게 대답하였다. “누가 저의 주님을 꺼내 갔습니다. 어디에 모셨는지 모르겠습니다.”

▶ And they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "They have taken my Lord, and I don't know where they laid him."

이렇게 말하고 나서 뒤로 돌아선 마리아는 예수님께서 서 계신 것을 보았다. 그러나 예수님이신 줄은 몰랐다.

▶ When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus there, but did not know it was Jesus.

예수님께서 마리아에게 “여인아, 왜 우느냐? 누구를 찾느냐?” 하고 물으셨다. 마리아는 그분을 정원지기로 생각하고, “선생님, 선생님께서 그분을 옮겨 가셨으면 어디에 모셨는지 저에게 말씀해 주십시오. 제가 모셔 가겠습니다.” 하고 말하였다.

▶ Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?" She thought it was the gardener and said to him, "Sir, if you carried him away, tell me where you laid him, and I will take him."

|
예수님께서 “마리아야!” 하고 부르셨다. 마리아는 돌아서서 히브리 말로 “라뿌니!” 하고 불렀다. 이는 ‘스승님!’이라는 뜻이다.

▶ Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni," which means Teacher.

예수님께서 마리아에게 말씀하셨다. “내가 아직 아버지께 올라가지 않았으니 나를 더 이상 붙들지 마라. 내 형제들에게 가서, ‘나는 내 아버지시며 너희의 아버지신 분, 내 하느님이시며 너희의 하느님이신 분께 올라간다.’ 하고 전하여라.”

▶ Jesus said to her, "Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, 'I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

▶ On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you."

이렇게 말씀하시고 나서 당신의 두 손과 옆구리를 그들에게 보여 주셨다. 제자들은 주님을 뵙고 기뻐하였다.

▶ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

▶ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit.

▶ Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.

그래서 다른 제자들이 그에게 “우리는 주님을 뵈었소.” 하고 말하였다. 그러나 토마스는 그들에게, “나는 그분의 손에 있는 못 자국을 직접 보고 그 못 자국에 내 손가락을 넣어 보고 또 그분 옆구리에 내 손을 넣어 보지 않고는 결코 믿지 못하겠소.” 하고 말하였다.

▶ So the other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."

여드레 뒤에 제자들이 다시 집 안에 모여 있었는데 토마스도 그들과 함께 있었다. 문이 다 잠겨 있었는데도 예수님께서 오시어 가운데에 서시며, “평화가 너희와 함께!” 하고 말씀하셨다.

▶ Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you."

그러고 나서 토마스에게 이르셨다. “네 손가락을 여기 대 보고 내 손을 보아라. 네 손을 뻗어 내 옆구리에 넣어 보아라. 그리고 의심을 버리고 믿어라.”

▶ Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe."

▶ Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

그러자 예수님께서 토마스에게 말씀하셨다. “너는 나를 보고서야 믿느냐? 보지 않고도 믿는 사람은 행복하다.”

▶ Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

▶ But these are written that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.
