헨리 나웬 신부님(1932-1996)의 오! 그리고 늘 ! 12월 4일 <우리 안의 영원한 생명을 양육한다는 것> Nurturing the Eternal Life Within Us 예수께서 우리의 죽는 몸을 죽지 않는 것으로 입히시려고 오셨음을 깨닫는 건 우리에게 그분과 함께 새롭고 영원한 생명으로 태어나려는 내적인 바람이 생기고 또 그걸 준비하는 방법을 찾도록 힘을 북돋는 데 도움이 되어야 합니다. 이미 우리 안에 있는 영원한 생명이요 예수님의 영이신 생명을 늘 양육하는 게 중요합니다. 세례성사로 이 생명을 받고, 성체성사로 이 생명을 유지하며, 기도, 묵상, 영적 독서와 영성 지도 같은 여러가지 영성의 실천은 이 생명을 깊이 있고 튼실하게 양육하는데 도움이 될 수 있습니다. 성사생활과 하느님의 말씀과 함께 하는 삶을 통해 우리는 죽는 몸을 내어놓고 죽지 않는 겉옷을 받을 준비를 시나브로 갖추게 되는 겁니다. 하여 죽음은 모든 것에 마침표를 찍는 적이 아니라 손을 잡고 영원한 사랑의 나라로 이끌어 주는 동무인 겁니다. Nurturing the Eternal Life Within Us DECEMBER 4 The knowledge that Jesus came to dress our mortal bodies with immortality must help us develop an inner desire to be born to a new eternal life with him and encourage us to find ways to prepare for it. It is important to nurture constantly the life of the Spirit of Jesus – which is the eternal life – that is already in us. Baptism gave us this life, the Eucharist maintains it, and our many spiritual practices – such as prayer, meditation, spiritual reading, and spiritual guidance – can help us to deepen and solidify it. The sacramental life and life with the Word of God gradually make us ready to let go of our mortal bodies and receive the mantle of immortality. Thus death is not the enemy who puts an end to everything but the friend who takes us by the hand and leads us into the Kingdom of eternal love.   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
