헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 10월 16일 <종살이에서 불러내신다는 것> Called out of Slavery 교회는 하느님의 백성입니다. "교회"를 뜻하는 라틴어 에클레시아ecclesia의 어원은 그리스말로 "ek밖으로"와 "kaleo부르다"입니다. 교회는 종살이에서 해방으로, 죄에서 구원으로, 절망에서 희망으로, 어둠에서 빛으로, 삶의 중심을 죽음에둔 존재에서 생명에 둔 존재로 불러내신 하느님의 백성인 겁니다. 우리가 교회를 생각한다면 함께 길을 가는 이들의 공동체를 떠올려야 합니다. 우리는 모든 연령이나, 인종 그리고 사회의 여자, 남자, 어린이들이 서로 서로를 지탱해 주면서 마지막 가야할 집을 향해 길고도 때로는 힘들고 지루한 길을 가는 교회의 모습을 그려야 하는 겁니다. The Latin word for “church,” ecclesia, comes from the Greek ek, which means “out,” and kaleo, which means “to call.” The Church is the people of God called out of slavery to freedom, sin to salvation, despair to hope, darkness to light, an existence centered on death to an existence focused on life. When we think of Church we have to think of a body of people, travelling together.
