시서와지혜서 집회 제 6장

성경 New American Bible
1 친구가 되어야지 원수가 되어서는 안 된다. 고약한 평판은 치욕과 비난을 불러들인다. 두 혀를 지닌 죄인의 짓이 그러하다. 1 Say nothing harmful, small or great; be not a foe instead of a friend; A bad name and disgrace will you acquire: "That for the evil man with double tongue!"
2 힘센 네가 황소처럼 찢기지 않도록 자신을 마음 내키는 대로 들어 높이지 마라. 2 Fall not into the grip of desire, lest, like fire, it consume your strength;
3 너는 네 잎사귀를 먹어 치워 열매를 망치고 너 자신을 마른 장작같이 남겨 놓으리라. 3 Your leaves it will eat, your fruits destroy, and you will be left a dry tree,
4 사악한 정신은 그 사람을 파괴하고 그를 원수들의 놀림감으로 만들리라. 4 For contumacious desire destroys its owner and makes him the sport of his enemies.
우정 True Friendship
5 부드러운 말씨는 친구들을 많게 하고 우아한 말은 정중한 인사를 많이 받게 한다. 5 A kind mouth multiplies friends, and gracious lips prompt friendly greetings.
6 너와 화목하게 지내는 친구들을 많이 만들되 조언자는 천 명 가운데 하나만을 골라라. 6 Let your acquaintances be many, but one in a thousand your confidant.
7 친구를 얻으려거든 시험해 보고 얻되 서둘러 그를 신뢰하지 마라. 7 When you gain a friend, first test him, and be not too ready to trust him
8 제 좋을 때에만 친구가 되는 이가 있는데 그는 네 고난의 날에 함께 있어 주지 않으리라. 8 For one sort of friend is a friend when it suits him, but he will not be with you in time of distress.
9 원수로 변하는 친구도 있으니 그는 너의 수치스러운 말다툼을 폭로하리라. 9 Another is a friend who becomes an enemy, and tells of the quarrel to your shame.
10 식탁의 친교나 즐기는 친구도 있으니 그는 네 고난의 날에 함께 있어 주지 않으리라. 10 Another is a friend, a boon companion, who will not be with you when sorrow comes.
11 그는 네가 잘될 때에는 너 자신인 양 행세하고 네 종들에게 마구 명령해 대리라. 11 When things go well, he is your other self, and lords it over your servants;
12 그러나 네가 비천하게 되면 그는 너를 배반하고 네 앞에서 자취를 감추리라. 12 But if you are brought low, he turns against you and avoids meeting you.
13 원수들을 멀리하고 친구들도 조심하여라. 13 Keep away from your enemies; be on your guard with your friends.
14 성실한 친구는 든든한 피난처로서 그를 얻으면 보물을 얻은 셈이다. 14 A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter; he who finds one finds a treasure.
15 성실한 친구는 값으로 따질 수 없으니 어떤 저울로도 그의 가치를 달 수 없다. 15 A faithful friend is beyond price, no sum can balance his worth.
16 성실한 친구는 생명을 살리는 명약이니 주님을 경외하는 이들은 그런 친구를 얻으리라. 16 A faithful friend is a life-saving remedy, such as he who fears God finds;
17 주님을 경외하는 이는 자신의 우정을 바르게 키워 나가니 이웃도 그의 본을 따라 그대로 하리라. 17 For he who fears God behaves accordingly, and his friend will be like himself.
지혜의 획득 Blessings of Wisdom
18 얘야, 젊을 때부터 교육을 받아라. 그래야 백발이 되어서도 지혜를 찾으리라. 18 My son, from your youth embrace discipline; thus will you find wisdom with graying hair.
19 밭 가는 사람처럼, 씨 뿌리는 사람처럼 지혜에 다가서서 지혜의 온갖 좋은 열매를 기대하여라. 정녕 지혜를 가꾸는 데는 적은 수고를 들이나 곧 지혜의 소출을 맛보리라. 19 As though plowing and sowing, draw close to her; then await her bountiful crops.
20 무지한 자들에게 지혜는 얼마나 어려운가! 미련한 자는 지혜 안에 머무를 수 없다. 20 For in cultivating her you will labor but little, and soon you will eat of her fruits.
21 이런 자에게 지혜는 무거운 들돌 같아서 이내 떨어뜨리지 않을 수 없다. 21 How irksome she is to the unruly! The fool cannot abide her.
22 지혜는 이름 그대로 지혜이니 많은 이들에게 드러나지 않는다. 22 She will be like a burdensome stone to test him, and he will not delay in casting her aside.
23 얘야, 들어라, 내 의견을 받아들이고 내 충고를 거부하지 마라. 23 For discipline is like her name, she is not accessible to many.
24 네 두 발을 지혜의 차꼬에 밀어 넣고 네 목을 지혜의 큰칼에 밀어 넣어라. 24 Listen, my son, and heed my advice; refuse not my counsel.
25 어깨를 낮추어 지혜를 짊어지고 지혜의 사슬을 귀찮게 여기지 마라. 25 Put your feet into her fetters, and your neck under her yoke.
26 목숨을 다 바쳐 지혜에 다가서고 온 힘을 다해 지혜의 길을 지켜라. 26 Stoop your shoulders and carry her and be not irked at her bonds.
27 찾고 구하여라, 그러면 지혜가 너에게 알려지리라. 지혜를 얻으면 놓치지 마라. 27 With all your soul draw close to her; with all your strength keep her ways.
28 마침내 너는 지혜의 안식을 찾고 지혜는 너에게 기쁨이 되어 주리라. 28 Search her out, discover her; seek her and you will find her. Then when you have her, do not let her go;
29 지혜의 차꼬는 너에게 든든한 보호막이 되고 그의 큰칼은 영광의 옷이 되리라. 29 Thus will you afterward find rest in her, and she will become your joy.
30 지혜의 멍에는 금장식이고 그의 사슬은 자주색 끈이다. 30 Her fetters will be your throne of majesty; her bonds, your purple cord.
31 너는 지혜를 영광의 옷으로 입고 지혜를 기쁨의 왕관으로 쓰리라. 31 You will wear her as your robe of glory, bear her as your splendid crown.
32 얘야, 네가 원하면 교육을 받을 수 있고 마음을 쏟으면 현명하게 될 수 있다. 32 My son, if you wish, you can be taught; if you apply yourself, you will be shrewd.
33 듣기를 좋아하면 이해를 얻고 귀를 기울이면 지혜롭게 되리라. 33 If you are willing to listen, you will learn; if you give heed, you will be wise.
34 원로들이 많이 모인 자리에 서라. 그들의 지혜에 너 자신을 맡겨라. 34 Frequent the company of the elders; whoever is wise, stay close to him.
35 하느님에 관한 온갖 담화를 즐겨 듣고 지혜로운 금언이 너에게서 빠져나가지 못하게 하여라. 35 Be eager to hear every godly discourse; let no wise saying escape you.
36 지각 있는 이를 보거든 이른 새벽부터 그를 찾아다니며 너의 발에 문지방이 닳도록 들락거려라. 36 If you see a man of prudence, seek him out; let your feet wear away his doorstep!
37 주님의 법령을 되새기고 언제나 그분의 계명을 묵상하여라. 그분께서 네 마음을 든든히 잡아 주시고 갈망하는 지혜를 너에게 주시리라. 37 Reflect on the precepts of the LORD, let his commandments be your constant meditation; Then he will enlighten your mind, and the wisdom you desire he will grant.
