‘너희는 헛소문을 퍼뜨려서는 안 된다. 악인과 손잡고 거짓 증인이 되어서는 안 된다.

▶ Neither shall you allege the example of the many as an excuse for doing wrong, nor shall you, when testifying in a lawsuit, side with the many in perverting justice.

또 힘없는 이라고 재판할 때 우대해서도 안 된다.

▶ You shall not favor a poor man in his lawsuit.

길을 잃고 헤매는 너희 원수의 소나 나귀와 마주칠 경우, 너희는 그것을 임자에게 데려다 주어야 한다.

▶ "When you come upon your enemy's ox or ass going astray, see to it that it is returned to him.

너희를 미워하는 자의 나귀가 짐에 눌려 쓰러져 있는 것을 보았을 경우, 내버려 두지 말고 그와 함께 나귀를 일으켜 주어야 한다.

너희는 재판할 때 가난한 이의 권리를 왜곡해서는 안 된다.

▶ "You shall not deny one of your needy fellow men his rights in his lawsuit.

그리고 거짓 고소를 멀리해야 한다. 죄 없는 이와 의로운 이를 죽여서는 안 된다. 나는 악인을 죄 없다고 하지 않는다.

▶ You shall keep away from anything dishonest. The innocent and the just you shall not put to death, nor shall you acquit the guilty.

너희는 뇌물을 받아서는 안 된다. 뇌물은 온전한 눈을 멀게 하고, 의로운 이들의 송사를 뒤엎어 버린다.

▶ Never take a bribe, for a bribe blinds even the most clear-sighted and twists the words even of the just.

너희는 이방인을 학대해서는 안 된다. 너희도 이집트 땅에서 이방인이었으니, 이방인의 심정을 알지 않느냐?’

▶ You shall not oppress an alien; you well know how it feels to be an alien, since you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt.

‘너희는 여섯 해 동안 땅에 씨를 뿌리고 그 소출을 거두어들여라.

그러나 일곱째 해에는 땅을 놀리고 묵혀서, 너희 백성 가운데 가난한 이들이 먹게 하고, 거기에서 남는 것은 들짐승이 먹게 해야 한다. 너희 포도밭과 올리브 밭도 그렇게 해야 한다.

▶ But the seventh year you shall let the land lie untilled and unharvested, that the poor among you may eat of it and the beasts of the field may eat what the poor leave. So also shall you do in regard to your vineyard and your olive grove.

연중 삼 대 축제에 관한 법

‘너희는 일 년에 세 차례 나를 위하여 축제를 지내야 한다.

▶ Three times a year you shall celebrate a pilgrim feast to me.
|
|

|
너희는 무교절을 지켜야 한다. 내가 너희에게 명령한 대로, 아빕 달 정해진 때에 이레 동안 누룩 없는 빵을 먹어야 한다. 그달에 너희가 이집트에서 나왔기 때문이다. 아무도 빈손으로 내 앞에 나와서는 안 된다.

▶ You shall keep the feast of Unleavened Bread. As I have commanded you, you must eat unleavened bread for seven days at the prescribed time in the month of Abib, for it was then that you came out of Egypt. No one shall appear before me empty-handed.

너희는 밭에 씨를 뿌려 얻은 너희 노동의 맏물을 바치는 수확절을 지키고, 밭에서 너희 노동의 결실을 거두어들이는 연말에는 추수절을 지켜야 한다.

▶ You shall also keep the feast of the grain harvest with the first of the crop that you have sown in the field; and finally, the feast at the fruit harvest at the end of the year, when you gather in the produce from the fields.

‘보라, 내가 너희 앞에 천사를 보내어, 길에서 너희를 지키고 내가 마련한 곳으로 너희를 데려가게 하겠다.

▶ "See, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared.

너희는 그 앞에서 조심하고 그의 말을 들어라. 그가 너희 죄를 용서하지 않으리니, 그를 거역하지 마라. 그는 내 이름을 지니고 있다.

▶ Be attentive to him and heed his voice. Do not rebel against him, for he will not forgive your sin. My authority resides in him.

너희가 그의 말을 잘 들어 내가 일러 준 것을 모두 실행하면, 나는 너희 원수들을 나의 원수로 삼고, 너희의 적들을 나의 적으로 삼겠다.

▶ If you heed his voice and carry out all I tell you, I will be an enemy to your enemies and a foe to your foes.

나의 천사가 앞장서서 너희를 아모리족, 히타이트족, 프리즈족, 가나안족, 히위족, 여부스족이 사는 곳으로 데려갈 것이다. 나는 그들을 멸종시키겠다.

▶ "My angel will go before you and bring you to the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites; and I will wipe them out.

그러면 너희는 그들의 신들에게 경배해서도 그 신들을 섬겨서도 안 되고, 그들이 하는 짓을 따라 해서도 안 된다. 오히려 그들의 기념 기둥들을 부수고 깨뜨려 버려야 한다.

▶ Therefore, you shall not bow down in worship before their gods, nor shall you make anything like them; rather, you must demolish them and smash their sacred pillars.

▶ "I will have the fear of me precede you, so that I will throw into panic every nation you reach. I will make all your enemies turn from you in flight,

▶ and ahead of you I will send hornets to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites out of your way.

그러나 땅이 황폐해지고 들짐승이 많아져서 너희를 해치는 일이 있을까 염려되므로, 일 년 동안은 그들을 너희 앞에서 몰아내지 않겠다.

▶ But not in one year will I drive them all out before you; else the land will become so desolate that the wild beasts will multiply against you.

▶ Instead, I will drive them out little by little before you, until you have grown numerous enough to take possession of the land.

그리고 너희 땅의 경계를 갈대 바다에서 필리스티아 바다까지, 광야에서 유프라테스 강까지로 정하여, 그 땅의 주민들을 너희 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그러면 너희는 그들을 너희 앞에서 몰아낼 수 있을 것이다.
