▶ David then ordered that all the aliens who lived in the land of Israel be brought together, and he appointed them stonecutters to hew out stone blocks for building the house of God.

다윗은 또 대문짝에 쓸 못과 꺾쇠를 만들 쇠를 많이 준비하고, 청동은 무게를 달 수 없을 만큼 많이 준비하였다.

향백나무도 수없이 준비하였다. 시돈인들과 티로인들이 다윗에게 향백나무를 많이 가져왔던 것이다.

다윗은 이렇게 생각하였다. ‘내 아들 솔로몬은 나이도 어리고 연약한데, 주님께 지어 바칠 집은 아주 웅장하고 그 명성과 영화를 온 세상에 떨쳐야 하니, 내가 집 지을 준비를 해 두어야 하겠다.’ 그래서 다윗은 죽기 전에 준비를 많이 하였다.

▶ who said: "My son Solomon is young and immature; but the house that is to be built for the LORD must be made so magnificent that it will be renowned and glorious in all countries. Therefore I will make preparations for it." Thus before his death David laid up materials in abundance.

▶ Then he called for his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel.

▶ David said to Solomon: "My son, it was my purpose to build a house myself for the honor of the LORD, my God.

그러나 주님의 말씀이 나에게 내렸다. ‘너는 사람의 피를 많이 흘리고 큰 전쟁들을 벌였으므로, 내 이름을 위한 집을 짓지 못한다. 너는 내 앞에서 너무 많은 피를 땅에 흘렸다.

▶ But this word of the LORD came to me: 'You have shed much blood, and you have waged great wars. You may not build a house in my honor, because you have shed too much blood upon the earth in my sight.

이제 너에게 한 아들이 태어날 터인데, 그는 평온한 사람이 될 것이다. 내가 사방에 있는 그의 모든 적으로부터 그를 평온하게 해 주겠다. 그래서 그 이름이 솔로몬이 될 것이다. 나는 그가 살아 있는 동안 이스라엘에 평화와 안정을 베풀겠다.

▶ However, a son is to be born to you. He will be a peaceful man, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. For Solomon shall be his name, and in his time I will bestow peace and tranquillity on Israel.

그가 바로 내 이름을 위한 집을 지을 사람이다. 그는 나의 아들이 되고 나는 그의 아버지가 될 것이다. 그리고 나는 이스라엘에 그의 왕좌를 영원히 튼튼하게 하겠다.’

▶ It is he who shall build a house in my honor; he shall be a son to me, and I will be a father to him, and I will establish the throne of his kingship over Israel forever.'

이제 내 아들아, 주님께서 너와 함께 계시어, 주 너의 하느님께서 너를 두고 말씀하신 대로 네가 집을 짓는 일에 성공하기를 바란다.

▶ Now, my son, the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as he has said you shall.

다만 주님께서 너에게 분별력과 슬기를 주시어, 그분께서 너에게 이스라엘을 다스리라고 명령하실 때, 네가 주 너의 하느님의 율법을 지키기를 바란다.

▶ May the LORD give you prudence and discernment when he brings you to rule over Israel, so that you keep the law of the LORD, your God.

|
주님께서 이스라엘을 두고 모세에게 명령하신 규정과 법규를 명심하여 지키면 성공할 것이다. 힘과 용기를 내어라. 두려워하지도 말고 당황하지도 마라.

▶ Only then shall you succeed, if you are careful to observe the precepts and decrees which the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be brave and steadfast; do not fear or lose heart.

|
내가 애써 주님의 집을 위하여 금 십만 탈렌트, 은 백만 탈렌트를 준비하고, 청동과 쇠는 너무 많아 무게를 달 수 없을 만큼 준비하였다. 또 나무와 돌도 준비하였는데, 여기에 네가 더 보태야 할 것이다.

▶ See, with great effort I have laid up for the house of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver, and bronze and iron in such great quantities that they cannot be weighed. I have also stored up wood and stones, to which you must add.

너에게는 많은 일꾼이 있다. 채석공과 석수와 목수, 그 밖에도 갖가지 일에 뛰어난 온갖 장인들이 있다.

▶ Moreover, you have available an unlimited supply of workmen, stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and every kind of craftsman

|
금과 은, 청동과 쇠도 수없이 많다. 그러니 어서 일을 시작하여라. 주님께서 너와 함께하실 것이다.”

“주 그대들의 하느님께서 여러분과 함께 계시고, 사방으로부터 그대들을 평온하게 해 주지 않으셨소? 그분께서는 과연 이 땅에 살던 사람들을 내 손에 넘겨주시어, 이 땅이 주님과 그분의 백성 앞에 굴복하게 되었소.

▶ "Is not the LORD your God with you? Has he not given you rest on every side? Indeed, he has delivered the occupants of the land into my power, and the land is subdued before the LORD and his people.

그러니 이제 그대들은 마음과 목숨을 바쳐 주 그대들의 하느님을 찾고, 어서 주 하느님의 성소를 지으시오. 그리고 주님의 이름을 위하여 짓는 그 집으로 주님의 계약 궤와 하느님의 거룩한 기물들을 옮기시오.”

▶ Therefore, devote your hearts and souls to seeking the LORD your God. Proceed to build the sanctuary of the LORD God, that the ark of the covenant of the LORD and God's sacred vessels may be brought into the house built in honor of the LORD."
