현인들이여, 제 말을 들으십시오. 유식한 이들이여, 저에게 귀를 기울이십시오.

▶ Hear, O wise men, my discourse, and you that have knowledge, hear me!

|
입이 음식 맛을 보듯 귀는 말을 식별한답니다. 무엇이 올바른 것인지 우리 가려보고

|
▶ For the ear tests words, as the taste does food.
|
|

|
무엇이 좋은 것인지 알아봅시다.

|
|
|
▶ Let us discern for ourselves what is right; let us learn between us what is good.

욥은 이렇게 말하였습니다. “나는 죄가 없는데 하느님께서 내 권리를 박탈하셨네.

▶ For Job has said, "I am innocent, but God has taken what is my due.
|
|

|
올바른데도 나는 거짓말쟁이가 되고 잘못이 없는데도 화살 맞은 내 상처는 아물지 않네.”

|
|
|
▶ Notwithstanding my right I am set at nought; in my wound the arrow rankles, sinless though I am."

비꼬기를 물 마시듯 하는 욥과 같은 사람이 어디 있겠습니까?

▶ What man is like Job? He drinks in blasphemies like water,

그는 나쁜 짓 하는 자들과 한패 되어 다니고 악한 사내들과 어울려 돌아다니며

▶ Keeps company with evildoers and goes along with wicked men,
|
|

|
“하느님과 잘 지내 봐야 사람에게는 이득이 없는 법!” 하고 말합니다.

▶ When he says, "It profits a man nought that he is pleasing to God."

전능하신 분의 정의
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
그러나 지각 있는 사람들이여 제 말을 들으십시오. 하느님께서는 결단코 악을 행하지 않으시고 전능하신 분께서는 불의를 저지르지 않으십니다.

▶ Therefore, men of understanding, hearken to me: far be it from God to do wickedness; far from the Almighty to do wrong!

그분께서는 사람에게 그 행실대로 되갚으시고 인간을 그 길에 따라 대하십니다.

▶ Rather, he requites men for their conduct, and brings home to a man his way of life.
|

|
참으로 하느님께서는 악을 행하지 않으시고 전능하신 분께서는 올바른 것을 왜곡하지 않으십니다.

|
|
|
▶ Surely, God cannot act wickedly, the Almighty cannot violate justice.
|

|
누가 그분께 세상을 맡겼습니까? 누가 온 누리를 세웠습니까?

|
▶ Who gave him government over the earth, or who else set all the land in its place?
|
|

|
당신의 영을 되돌리시고 당신의 입김을 도로 거두시면

|
▶ If he were to take back his spirit to himself, withdraw to himself his breath,
|
|

|
모든 육체는 다 죽어 가고 사람은 티끌로 돌아간답니다.

▶ All flesh would perish together, and man would return to the dust.

의로운 통치
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
분별력이 있다면 이 말을 들으십시오. 제 말소리에 귀를 기울이십시오.

▶ Now, do you, O Job, hear this! Hearken to the words I speak!
|
|

|
올바른 것을 미워하는 자가 다스릴 수 있습니까? 당신은 의롭고 강하신 분을 단죄하려 합니까?

|
|
|
▶ Can an enemy of justice indeed be in control, or will you condemn the supreme Just One,
|
|

|
임금에게 “쓸모없는 자!”, 귀족들에게 “악인!”이라고 말씀하시는 분을?

|
|
|
▶ Who says to a king, "You are worthless!" and to nobles, "You are wicked!"

|
제후들이라 해서 편들지 않으시고 부자라 해서 가난한 이보다 우대하지 않으시는 분을? 그들이 모두 그분 손의 작품이 아닙니까?

|
|
▶ Who neither favors the person of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor? For they are all the work of his hands;

|
한밤중 그들은 한순간에 죽어 가고 백성은 혼란에 빠져 사라지며 강자는 제거되는데 인간의 손이 하는 일이 아니랍니다.

|
▶ in a moment they die, even at midnight. He brings on nobles, and takes them away, removing the powerful without lifting a hand;

그분의 눈은 사람의 길 위에 있어 그의 걸음을 낱낱이 보십니다.

|
|
|
▶ For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he beholds all his steps.
|
|

|
나쁜 짓 하는 자들이 숨을 수 있는 어떤 어둠도 어떤 암흑도 없습니다.

|
|
|
|
▶ There is no darkness so dense that evildoers can hide in it.
|
|

|
하느님께 심판받으러 가는 시간을 사람이 정하는 게 아닙니다.

|
|
|
|
|
▶ For he forewarns no man of his time to come before God in judgment.
|
|

|
강호들을 문초할 필요도 없이 꺾으시고 그들 대신 다른 이들을 세우십니다.

|
|
|
▶ Without a trial he breaks the mighty, and sets others in their stead,
|
|
25
|
이렇게 그들의 행실을 알고 계시어 밤중에 뒤엎으시니 그들은 파멸됩니다.

|
|
|
▶ Therefore he discerns their works; he turns at night and crushes them.
|
|

|
악인들이기에 사람들이 보는 앞에서 그들을 처벌하십니다.

|

|
|
|

|
그들이 그분 뒤를 따르려 하지 않고 그분의 길은 하나도 알려고 하지 않으면서

▶ Because they turned away from him and heeded none of his ways,
|

|
억눌린 이의 울부짖음이 그분께 다다르게 하니 그분께서는 가난한 이들의 울부짖음을 들으신답니다.

▶ But caused the cries of the poor to reach him, so that he heard the plea of the afflicted.

|
그분께서 침묵을 지키신다고 누가 그분을 단죄하며 그분께서 얼굴을 감추시면 누가 그분을 보겠습니까? 그러나 그분께서는 민족 위에, 모든 사람 위에 계시니

▶ If he remains tranquil, who then can condemn? If he hides his face, who then can behold him?

불경스러운 인간은 다스리지 못하고 백성에게 올가미를 놓지 못합니다.

|
누가 하느님께 이렇게 말씀드린다고 합시다. “제가 잘못했습니다. 다시는 과오를 범하지 않겠습니다.

▶ When anyone says to God, "I was misguided; I will offend no more.
|
|

|
제가 보지 못하는 것을 당신께서 가르쳐 주십시오. 제가 불의를 저질렀다면 다시는 되풀이하지 않겠습니다.”

|
|
|
|
|
▶ Teach me wherein I have sinned; if I have done wrong, I will do so no more,"

|
당신 생각에는 그분께서 그 불의를 응징하셔야 합니까? 당신이 단순히 그를 싫어하기 때문에? 당신이 선택하셔야 합니다. 제가 아닙니다. 무엇을 알고 계십니까? 말씀해 보십시오.

▶ Would you then say that God must punish, since you reject what he is doing? It is you who must choose, not I; speak, therefore, what you know.

▶ Men of understanding will say to me, every wise man who hears my views:

“욥은 알지도 못하면서 말하는군. 그의 말은 현명하지 못해.”

▶ "Job speaks without intelligence, and his words are without sense."
|
|

|
아, 욥이 철저히 조사를 받는다면! 간악한 사람들 사이에서나 듣는 대답을 하니

|
|
▶ Let Job be tried to the limit, since his answers are those of the impious;
|
|

|
그가 자기의 죄악에다 반항 죄를 더하고 우리 사이에서 손바닥을 쳐 대며 하느님을 거역하는 말을 더해 가기 때문입니다.

▶ For he is adding rebellion to his sin by brushing off our arguments and addressing many words to God.
