Hear this word, O men of Israel, that the LORD pronounces over you, over the whole family that I brought up from the land of Egypt:

▶ “이스라엘 자손들아, 주님이 너희를 두고, 이집트 땅에서 내가 데리고 올라온 씨족 전체를 두고 한 이 말을 들어라.

You alone have I favored, more than all the families of the earth; Therefore I will punish you for all your crimes.

▶ 나는 이 땅의 모든 씨족 가운데에서 너희만 알았다. 그러나 그 모든 죄를 지은 너희를 나는 벌하리라.”

Do two walk together unless they have agreed?

|
▶ 두 사람이 약속하지 않았는데도 같이 갈 수 있겠느냐?

|
Does a lion roar in the forest when it has no prey? Does a young lion cry out from its den unless it has seized something?

▶ 먹이가 없는데도 사자가 숲 속에서 으르렁거리겠느냐? 잡은 것이 없는데도 힘센 사자가 굴속에서 소리를 지르겠느냐?

Is a bird brought to earth by a snare when there is no lure for it? Does a snare spring up from the ground without catching anything?

|
▶ 미끼가 없는데도 새가 땅에 있는 그물로 내려앉겠느냐? 아무것도 걸리지 않았는데 땅에서 그물이 튀어 오르겠느냐?

If the trumpet sounds in a city, will the people not be frightened? If evil befalls a city, has not the LORD caused it?

▶ 성읍 안에서 뿔 나팔이 울리면 사람들이 떨지 않느냐? 성읍에 재앙이 일어나면 주님께서 내리신 것이 아니냐?

Indeed, the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants, the prophets.

▶ 정녕 주 하느님께서는 당신의 종 예언자들에게 당신의 비밀을 밝히지 않으시고는 아무 일도 하지 않으신다.

|
The lion roars - who will not be afraid! The Lord GOD speaks - who will not prophesy!

▶ 사자가 포효하는데 누가 두려워하지 않을 수 있으랴? 주 하느님께서 말씀하시는데 누가 예언하지 않을 수 있으랴?

Proclaim this in the castles of Ashdod, in the castles of the land of Egypt: "Gather about the mountain of Samaria, and see the great disorders within her, the oppression in her midst."

▶ “너희는 아스돗의 성채들과 이집트 땅의 성채들에서 선포하여라. ‘너희는 사마리아의 산들 위에 모여 그 안에서 일어나는 큰 혼란과 그 속에서 벌어지는 폭행을 보아라.’

|
For they know not how to do what is right, says the LORD, Storing up in their castles what they have extorted and robbed.

▶ 그들은 옳게 행동할 줄을 모른다. 주님의 말씀이다. 그들은 자기들의 성채 안에 폭력과 억압을 쌓아 올리는 자들이다.

Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD: An enemy shall surround the land, and strip you of your strength, and pillage your castles,

▶ ─ 그러므로 주 하느님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. ─ 적이 이 땅을 포위하고 너의 방어벽을 허물어뜨려 너의 성채들을 약탈하리라.”

Thus says the LORD: As the shepherd snatches from the mouth of the lion a pair of legs or the tip of an ear of his sheep, So the Israelites who dwell in Samaria shall escape with the corner of a couch or a piece of a cot.

▶ 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. “목자가 사자의 입에서 다리 두 개나 귀 한쪽을 빼낸다. 사마리아에 사는 이스라엘 자손들도 침상 발치와 침대 머리맡에서 그렇게 구출되리라.

Hear and bear witness against the house of Jacob, says the Lord GOD, the God of hosts:

▶ 너희는 듣고 야곱의 집안을 거슬러 증언하여라. 만군의 하느님, 주 하느님의 말씀이다.

|
On the day when I punish Israel for his crimes, I will visit also the altars of Bethel: The horns of the altar shall be broken off and fall to the ground.

▶ 내가 이스라엘의 죄를 벌하는 날 베텔의 제단들도 벌하리니 제단의 뿔들이 꺾여 땅에 떨어지리라.

|
Then will I strike the winter house and the summer house; The ivory apartments shall be ruined, and their many rooms shall be no more, says the LORD.

▶ 나는 여름 별장에다 겨울 별장까지 쳐부수리라. 상아로 꾸민 집들이 사라지고 큰 집들이 없어지리라.” 주님의 말씀이다.
