사순제5주간 수요일 성무일도 독서 : 성 아우구스티노 주교의 ‘시편주해’에서 

예수 그리스도께서는 우리의 사제로서 우리를 위해 기도하시고 우리의 머리로서 우리 안에서 기도하시며 우리의 하느님으로서 우리의 기도를 받아들이십니다. 우리는 그분 안에서 우리의 기도 소리를, 우리 안에서 그분의 기도소리를 들어야 합니다. 주님은 하느님으로서 우리의 기도를 받아들이시고 종으로서 우리를 위하여 기도드립니다. 처음 경우에는 창조주로서 나중 경우에는 피조물로서 하십니다. 자신은 번하지 않은 채, 그분은 변해야 하는 피조물이 되시어 머리와 몸처럼 우리를 당신 자신과 하나로 결합시키셨습니다. 그러므로 우리는 그분께, 그분을 통해서, 그리고 그분 안에서 기도합니다. 우리는 그분과 더불어 말하며 그분은 우리와 더불어 말씀하십니다.

Iesus Christus orat pro nobis, ut sacerdos noster; orat in nobis, ut caput nostrum; oratur a nobis, ut Deus noster. Agnoscamus ergo et in illo voces  nostras, et voces eius in nobis. Oratur ergo in forma Dei, orat in forma servi : ibi creatur, hic creatus, creaturam mutandam non mutatus assumens, et secum nos faciens unum hominem, caput et corpus. Oramus ergo ad illum, per illum, in illo, et dicimus cum illo, et dicit nobiscum.

He prays for us as our priest, he prays in us as our head, he is the object of our prayers as our God. Let us then recognise both our voice in his, and his voice in ours. We pray to him as God, he prays for us as a servant. In the first case he is the Creator, in the second a creature. Himself unchanged, he took to himself our created nature in order to change it, and made us one man with himself, head and body. We pray then to him, through him, in him, and we speak along with him and he along with us.
