부활제4주일 성무일도 독서 : 성 대 그레고리오 교황의 복음 강론에서 :

형제들이여, 우리 마음에 열성을 기르고, 우리가 믿고 있는 바에 관심을 일깨우며 천상 사물을 열렬히 갈망합시다. 우리가 이만큼 사모한다면 이미 그 길에 들어서 있는 것입니다. 어떤 불행도 우리를 이 행복과 이 심원한 즐거움에서 돌이키게 하지 않기를 바랍니다. 누구든지 목적지에 도달하고자 갈망한다면 길이 험난하다 해서 자기 마음을 바꾸지 않을 것입니다. 우리 생활의 번영이라는 매력이 우리를 곁길로 끌고 가지 않기를 바랍니다. 중도에서 쾌적한 들판을 보게 될 때 자기 목적지로 계속 향하는 것을 잊어버리는 사람은 어리석은 여행자이기 때문입니다.

 Accendamus ergo animum, fratres, recalescat fides in id quod credidit, inardescant ad superna nostra desideria, et sic amare iam ire est. Ab internae sollemnitatis gaudio nulla nos adversitas revocet, quia, et si quis ad locum propositum ire desiderat, eius desiderium quaelibet viae asperitas non immutaet. Nulla nos prosperitas blandiens seducat, quia stultus viator est, qui, in itinere amoena parata conspiciens, obliviscitur ire quo tendebat.

Let us stir up our hearts, rekindle our faith, and long eagerly for what heaven has in store for us. To love thus is to be already on our way. No matter what obstacles we encounter, we must not allow them to turn us aside from the joy of that heavenly feast. Anyone who is determined to reach his destination is not deterred by the roughness of the road that leads to it. Nor must we allow the charm of success to seduce us, or we shall be like a foolish traveller who is so distracted by the pleasant meadows through which he is passing that he forgets where he is going.
