부활제4주간 화요일 성무일도 독서

알렉산드리아의 성 치릴로 주교의 ‘성 요한복음 주해’에서 :

포도나무에 붙어있는 사람은 의지의 자유로운 행위로 그분과 결합하며, 그리스도께서는 은총으로 우리와 결합하십니다. 우리는 신앙을 통하여 선한 의지로써 그리스도께 나아가 그리스도께서 우리에게 얻어 주신 은총으로 말미암아 그분과 같은 가족이 되고 자녀로서의 품위를 지니게 됩니다. 바울로 사도가 말했듯이 ‘주님과 결함되는 사람은 그분과 영적으로 하나가 됩니다’

Eorum enim, qui ad vitem accedunt, adhaesio voluntatis est atque propositi; eius autem coniunctio nobiscum, affectus et habitudinis. Ex bono quippe proposito nos ad Christum accessimus per fidem; genus autem ipsius facti sumus, adoptionis dignitatem ab eo consecuti. Etenim, iuxta sanctum Paulum, qui adhaeret Domino, unus spiritus est.

On the part of those who come to the vine, their union with him depends upon a deliberate act of the will; on his part, the union is effected by grace. Because we had good will, we made the act of faith that brought us to Christ, and received from him the dignity of adoptive sonship that made us his own kinsmen, according to the words of Saint Paul: He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.

포도나무 뿌리가 가지들에게 양분을 나누어 주는 것과 같이, 성부의 외아들이신 하느님의 말씀께서도 성도들에게 당신의 신성을 나누어 주심으로써 그들이 당신과 가족관계를 이루게 하시고, 신앙을 통해서 결합되어 있는 그들에게 당신의 영을 베풀어 주십니다. 이렇게 함으로써 그들을 거룩하게 하시고 그들의 신심을 기르시며 온갖 덕행과 선업의 지식을 주시어 이를 실천하게 하십니다.

Quemadmodum enim radix naturalem suam qualitatem palmitibus impertit, sic unigenitum Dei Verbum Dei ac Patris suaeque naturae quandam veluti cognationem sanctis inserit, Spiritum largiens iis potissimum qui uniti sunt ei per fidem, et omnimodam sanctitatem, eosque ad pietatam alit, omnisque virtutis ac bonitatis cognitionem in iis opertur.

Just as the trunk of the vine gives its own natural properties to each of its branches, so, by bestowing on them the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, the only-begotten Son of the Father, gives Christians a certain kinship with himself and with God the Father because they have been united to him by faith and determination to do his will in all things. He helps them to grow in love and reverence for God, and teaches them to discern right from wrong and to act with integrity.
