헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 9월 7일 <서로 축복을 베푼다는 것> Blessing One Another 축복한다는 건 덕담(좋은 말)을 베푼다는 뜻입니다. 우리는 끊임없이 서로를 축복해야 하는 겁니다.  부모는 자녀를, 자녀는 부모를, 남편은 아내를, 아내는 남편을, 친구는 제 친구를 축복해야 하는 겁니다.  온갖 악담(막말·저주)이 가득한 사회에서 우리가 들어서는 자리마다 축복으로 채워야 하는 겁니다. 우리가 하느님께서 사랑하시는 자녀라는 걸 너무 쉽게 잊어버려 우리 마음이 세상의 온갖 악담들로 어두어질 수 있는 겁니다. 하여 우리가 사랑받고 있다는 걸 되새기고 남들에게도 같은 사랑을 받고 있다는 걸 다시금 깨닫게 해야 하는 겁니다. 축복을 말로 하든 몸짓으로 하든 전례 형식을 갖추어 하든 격식없이 편안하게 하든 우리는 축복 가운데 살아가야 하는 겁니다. Blessing One Another SEPTEMBER 7 To bless means to say good things. We have to bless one another constantly. Parents need to bless their children, children their parents, husbands their wives, wives their husbands, friends their friends. In our society, so full of curses, we must fill each place we enter with our blessings. We forget so quickly that we are God’s beloved children and allow the many curses of our world to darken our hearts. Therefore we have to be reminded of our belovedness and remind others of theirs. Whether the blessing is given in words or with gestures, in a solemn or an informal way, our lives need to be blessed lives.   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
