헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 6월 21일 <우리가 선포하는 진리로 자라난다는 것> Growing into the Truth We Speak 말하는대로 온전히 살아야만 우리는 선포할 수 있는 걸까요? 우리가 한 모든 말이 모든 행동과 같아야 한다면 아마 평생 입을 닫고 살아가야 할 겁니다! 때론 우리가 아직 온전히 살지 못하는데도 하느님의 사랑을 선포하라는 부르심을 받게 됩니다. 이게 우리가 위선자라는 것을 뜻하는 걸까요? 우리가 한 말에 자신이 회심(回心,回頭)하지 않을 때만 그럴 겁니다. 자신이 품고 있는 이상과 비전에 빈틈없이 꼭 맞게 사는 이는 아무도 없습니다. 하지만 이상과 비전을 깊이 확신하고 또 아주 겸손하게 선포함으로써 우리가 선포하는 진리로 시나브로 자라날 수 있는 겁니다. 언제나 더 크게 선포하는 건 하는 말 보다는 우리가 살아가는 모습임을 아는 한 우리가 하는 말도 늘 겸손할 것이라 믿을 수 있는 겁니다. "여러분은 장차 자유의 법에 따라 심판받을 사람으로서 말하고 행동하십시오.자비를 베풀지 않은 자는 가차 없는 심판을 받습니다. 자비는 심판을 이깁니다."(야고2,12-13) Growing into the Truth We Speak JUNE 21 Can we only speak when we are fully living what we are saying? If all our words had to cover all our actions, we would be doomed to permanent silence! Sometimes we are called to proclaim God’s love even when we are not yet fully able to live it. Does that mean we are hypocrites? Only when our own words no longer all us to conversion. Nobody completely lives up to his or her own ideals and visions. But by8roclaiming our ideals and visions with great conviction and great humility, we may gradually grow into the truth we speak. As long as we know that our lives always will speak louder than our words, we can trust that our words will remain humble. "Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.
