헨리 나웬 신부님(1932-1996)의 오! 그리고 늘 ! 12월 6일 <하느님의 영원한 시간> God’s Timeless Time 이승을 떠난 다음엔 "이후"란 없습니다. "이전"과 "이후"란 죽을 운명의 삶, 시간과 공간 속에 있는 우리 삶에 속하는 낱말입니다.  죽음으로 우리는 세월의 한계를 벗어나 영원한 하느님의 "시간"으로 들어가는 겁니다. 하여 이승을 떠난 다음 삶을 헤아리는 것들은  그냥 어림짐작에 지나지 않는 겁니다. 죽음 너머에는 "처음"과 "나중",  "여기"와 "저기",  "과거"와 "현재" 또는 "미래"가 없는 겁니다. 하느님께서는 모두의 전부이십니다. 시간의 끝, 몸의 부활, 그리고 예수님의 영광스러운 재림은 시간을 벗어난 이에겐 더 이상 시간상으론 구분되지 않는 겁니다. 우리는 여전히 시간 속에 살고 있으므로  그리스도 안에서 사는 새 삶을  이해하거나 설명할 수 있는 듯이 행동하지 않는 게 중요합니다. 하느님의 생각과 마음은 우리보다 훨씬 크신 겁니다. 우리가 해야할 일은 오로지 믿음뿐 입니다. "그날에 이렇게들 말하리라. “보라, 이분은 우리의 하느님이시다. 우리는 이분께 희망을 걸었고 이분께서는 우리를 구원해 주셨다. 이분이야말로 우리가 희망을 걸었던 주님이시다. 이분의 구원으로 우리 기뻐하고 즐거워하자."(이사25,9) God’s Timeless Time DECEMBER 6 There is no “after” after death. Words like after and before belong to our mortal life, our life in time and space. Death frees us from the boundaries of chronology and brings us into God’s “time,” which is timeless. Speculations about the afterlife, therefore, are little more than just that: speculations. Beyond death there is no “first” and “later,” no “here” and “there,” no “past,” “present,” or “future.” God is all in all. The end of time, the resurrection of the body, and the glorious coming again of Jesus are no longer separated by time for those who are no longer in time. For us who still live in time, it is important not to act as if the new life in Christ is something we can comprehend or explain. God’s heart and mind are greater than ours. All that is asked of us is trust. In that day they will say, "Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation." - Isaiah 25: 9 (NIV)   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
