헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 9월 27일 <자유로 가는 길인 세례성사> Baptism, the Way to Freedom 자녀가 세례를 받게 되면 부모는 자녀가 하느님의 자녀요 예수님의 형제 자매로 자라고 살아가며 또 성령께서 이끌어 주시길 바라는 마음을 나타냅니다. 출생을 통해 부모는 한 아이를 맡고 세례를 통해 하느님께서는 그 아이를 맡으시는 겁니다. 세례성사에서 부모가 인정하는 건 자신들이 부모가 된 것이 하느님께서 부모가 되시는 일에 참여하는 일이며, 아버지가 되고 어머니가 되는 모든 건 하느님께로부터 온다는 겁니다. 하여 세례를 통해 부모는 자녀를 소유하고 있다는 생각에서 벗어나게 되는 겁니다. 자녀는 하느님 것이며 부모는 하느님의 이름으로 사랑하고 보살피라고 자녀를 맡은 겁니다. 부모의 성소는 자녀를 집안의 고귀한 손님으로 맞아들여 몸으로나 감성으로나 영성으로나 자유로운 상태로 이끌어 줌으로써 집을 떠나서 스스로 부모가 될 수 있게 하는 겁니다. 세례성사에서 부모는 이 성소를 되새기며 자녀들을 자유의 길로 나아가게 하는 겁니다. Baptism, the Way to Freedom SEPTEMBER 27 When parents have their children baptised they indicate their desire to have their children grow up and live as children of God and brothers or sisters of Jesus, and be guided by the Holy Spirit. Through birth a child is given to parents; through baptism a child is given to God. At baptism the parents acknowledge that their parenthood is a participation in God’s parenthood, that all fatherhood and motherhood comes from God. Thus baptism frees the parents from a sense of owning their children. Children belong to God and are given to the parents to love and care for in God’s name. It is the parents’ vocation to welcome their children as honored guests in their home and bring them to the physical, emotional, and spiritual freedom that enables them to leave the home and become parents themselves. Baptism reminds parents of this vocation and sets children on the path of freedom. † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘. |
