헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 5월 3일 <하느님의 용안을 보여주는 모자이크라는 것> The Mosaic That Shows Us the Face of God 모자이크를 이루는 건 수많은 작은 돌이지요. 돌들은 파랑, 초록, 노랑, 누렁 색깔을 띠고 있지요. 모자이크를 자세히 들여다 보면 돌 하나 하나가 예뻐서 놀랄 겁니다. 하지만 뒤로 물러서서 바라보면 작은 돌들이 아름다운 그림으로 모습을 드러내고 돌 하나 하나가 하지 못할 이야기를 말해주는 걸 깨닫게 되는 겁니다. 이게 바로 공동체로 살아가는 모습이지요. 모자이크처럼 우리 한사람 한사람이 작은 돌과 같지만 함께 모여 하느님의 용안을 세상에 드러내는 겁니다. 누구도 “제가 하느님을 보여드리겠어요”라고 말할 순 없는 겁니다. 하지만 우리가 함께 있는 걸 보는 이들은 “저이들이 하느님을 보여주네요”라는 말을 할 수 있는 겁니다. 공동체는 작은 돌들의 겸손과 모자이크의 영광이 서로 보듬는 자리인 겁니다. "나는 비로소 그들에게 말하였다. “여러분이 보시다시피 우리는 불행에 빠져 있습니다. 예루살렘은 폐허가 되고 성문들은 불에 타 버렸습니다. 자, 예루살렘 성벽을 다시 쌓읍시다. 그리하여 우리가 더 이상 수치를 당하지 않게 합시다.--대사제 엘야십이 형제 사제들과 함께 나서서 ‘양 문’을 세워 봉헌하였다. 또 문짝들을 달고, ‘백인 탑’까지, 그리고 ‘하난엘 탑’까지 이르는 구간을 봉헌하였다.--‘물고기 문’은 스나아의 자손들이 세웠다. 그들은 문틀을 짜고 문짝과 빗장둔테와 빗장을 만들어 달았다.-- 그 옆은 세공장이 가운데 하나인, 하르하야의 아들 우찌엘이 손질하였고, 그 옆은 향료 제조업자 가운데 하나인 하난야가 손질하였다. 그들은 ‘넓은 성벽’에 이르기까지 예루살렘을 보수하였다.-- 그 옆은 예루살렘의 반쪽 구역 담당관, 로헤스의 아들 살룸이 자기 딸들과 함께 손질하였다.-- ‘샘 문’은 미츠파 구역 담당관, 콜 호제의 아들 살룸이 손질하였다. 그는 성문을 만들고 지붕을 얹은 다음, 문짝과 빗장둔테와 빗장을 만들어 달았다. 그는 또 ‘임금 동산’ 옆 ‘셀라 못’ 가의 성벽을 다윗 성에서 내려가는 층계까지 손질하였다. ---성벽 공사는 오십이 일 만인 엘룰 달 스무닷샛날에 끝났다. 우리의 모든 원수가 이 소식을 듣고 우리 주위의 모든 민족들이 이것을 보았다. 이 일이 그들의 눈에 매우 놀랍게만 보였다. 그제야 그들은 이 일이 우리 하느님의 도우심으로 이루어졌음을 알게 되었다. (느헤2,17. ; 3,1,3,8,13,15;16,15-16) The Mosaic That Shows Us the Face of God MAY 3 A mosaic consists of thousands of little stones. Some are blue, some are green, some are yellow, some are gold. When we bring our faces close to the mosaic, we can admire the beauty of each stone. But as we step back from it, we can see that all these little stones reveal to us a beautiful picture, telling a story none of these stones can tell by itself. That is what our life in community is about. Each of us is like a little stone, but together we reveal the face of God to the world. Nobody can say: “I make God visible.” But others who see us together can say: “They make God visible.” Community is where humility and glory touch. "Then I said to them, "You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem so that we may no longer suffer disgrace." Eliashib the high priest and his fellow priests went to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate. The Fish Gate was rebuilt by the sons of Hassenaah. They laid its beams and put its doors and bolts and bars in place. Uzziel son of Harhaiah, one of the goldsmiths, repaired the next section; and Hananiah, one of the perfume-makers, made repairs next to that. Shallum son of Hallohesh, ruler of a half-district of Jerusalem, repaired the next section with the help of his daughters. The Fountain Gate was repaired by Shallun... he rebuilt it, roofing it over and putting its doors and bolts and bars in place. He also repaired the wall of the Pool of Siloam, as far as the steps going down from the City of David... So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty two days. When the others heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God." - Nehemiah 2:17; 3:1,3,8,12,15; 6:15-16   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
