헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 6월 14일 <사랑을 선택한다는 것> Choosing Love 전부는 아니라도 겪은 게 거의 사랑과는 반대인 두려움, 미움, 폭력, 그리고 괴롭힘인데, 아무 조건 없는 하느님의 사랑이 있다는 걸 어찌 믿을 수 있을까요? 그이들은 희생자로 낙인 찍힌 게 아닙니다 ! 그이들은 숨겨져 있을지라도 사랑을 선택할 수 있는 가능성을 여전히 마음 속에 간직하고 있는 겁니다. 가장 끔찍하게 따돌림을 당했고 가장 잔인하게 고문을 받았던 수많은 사람들이 사랑을 선택할 수 있는 겁니다. 사랑을 선택함으로써 그이들은 인간의 엄청난 회복력은 물론 모든 사랑을 초월하는 하느님 사랑의 증인이 되는 겁니다. 미움과 두려움 가운데서 작은 것이라도 사랑을 선택하는 이들이야말로 이 세상에 참 희망을 던지는 분들인 겁니다. "여러분은 현세에 동화되지 말고 정신을 새롭게 하여 여러분 자신이 변화되게 하십시오. 그리하여 무엇이 하느님의 뜻인지, 무엇이 선하고 무엇이 하느님 마음에 들며 무엇이 완전한 것인지 분별할 수 있게 하십시오."(로마12,2) Choosing Love JUNE 14 How can someone ever trust in the existence of an unconditional divine love when most, if not all, of what he or she has experienced is the opposite of love – fear, hatred, violence, and abuse? They are not condemned to be victims! There remains within them, hidden as it may seem, the possibility to choose love. Many people who have suffered the most horrendous rejections and been subject to the most cruel torture are able to choose love. By choosing love they become witnesses not only to enormous human resiliency but also to the divine love that transcends all human loves. Those who choose, even on a small scale, to love in the midst of hatred and fear are the people who offer true hope to our world. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
