헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 9월 17일 <허리를 펴고 선다는 것> Standing Erect 예수님께서는 이런 말씀을 하십니다. "해와 달과 별들에는 표징들이 나타나고, 땅에서는 바다와 거센 파도 소리에 자지러진 민족들이 공포에 휩싸일 것이다. 사람들은 세상에 닥쳐오는 것들에 대한 두려운 예감으로 까무러칠 것이다. 하늘의 세력들이 흔들릴 것이기 때문이다. 그때에 ‘사람의 아들이’ 권능과 큰 영광을 떨치며 ‘구름을 타고 오는 것을’ 사람들이 볼 것이다.”(루카 21,25~28) 이 모든 일은 이미 일어나고 있습니다. 하느님의 마음에 깊이 귀를 기울인 이라면 누구나 세상의 절망과 큰 속량(해방)이 함께 오는 걸 매일 볼 수 있는 겁니다. 그러면 우리는 어떻게 해야 할까요? 예수님께서는 명확하게 말씀하십니다. "이러한 일들이 일어나기 시작하거든 허리를 펴고 머리를 들어라. 너희의 속량이 가까웠기 때문이다.'(루카 21,28) 여기에 엄청난 희망이 있는 겁니다. 우리는 까무러치지 않고 허리를 펴고 두 팔을 활짝 벌려 주님을 맞이할 수 있는 겁니다. "주님께 바라는 이들은 새 힘을 얻고 독수리처럼 날개 치며 올라간다. 그들은 뛰어도 지칠 줄 모르고 걸어도 피곤한 줄 모른다."(이사40,31) Standing Erect SEPTEMBER 17 About the end-time Jesus says: “There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by the turmoil of the ocean and its waves; men fainting away with terror and fear at what menaces the world, for the power of heaven will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory” (Luke 21:25-28) All of this is already taking place. For anyone who has listened deeply to the heart of God, the despair of the world and the coming of the great liberation are both visible every day. What then should we do? Jesus says it clearly: “Stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand” (Luke 21:28). There is so much hope here. We do not have to faint but can stand straight, welcoming our Lord with outstretched arms. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. - Isaiah 40: 31 (NIV)   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
