헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 6월 27일 <영성적인 용기라는 것> Spiritual Courage 용기를 내려면 위험을 무릅쓰게 마련입니다.  그랜드 캐년에서 오토바이를 타고 뛰어내려 오거나 통나무쪽배를 타고 나이아가라 폭포를 건너거나, 노 젓는 배를 타고 바다를 건너는 걸 용기있는 행동이라고들 말합니다. 그 행동에는 목숨을 걸어야 하기 때문입니다. 하지만 앞뒤를 가리지않는 이러한 저돌적인 행동들은 어느 한가지도 우리 존재의 가온에서 우러나오는 게 아닙니다.  이 행동들은 모두 육체적인 한계를 시험하고 또 이름을 날리며 인기를 얻으려는 욕망에서 빚어지는 겁니다. 영성에서 우러나오는 용기는 전혀 다른 겁니다.  명성과 인기를 잃어버릴 위험을 무릅쓰고 우리 마음 속 가장 깊은 갈망을 따르는 겁니다. 해서 우리에게 필요한 건 영원한 삶을 얻기 위해서라면 현세적 삶을 기꺼이 포기하겠다는 마음가짐입니다. "네가 가진 것을 다하여 예지를 얻어라." (잠언4,7) Spiritual Courage JUNE 27 Courage is connected with taking risks. Jumping the Grand Canyon on a motorbike, coming over Niagara Falls in a barrel, or crossing the ocean in a rowboat are called courageous acts because people risk their lives by doing these things. But none of these daredevil acts comes from the centre of our being. They all come from the desire to test our physical limits and to become famous and popular. Spiritual courage is something completely different. It is following the deepest desires of our hearts at the risk of losing fame and popularity. It asks of us the willingness to lose our temporal lives in order to gain eternal life. "Though it cost all you have, get understanding." - Proverbs 4: 7b   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
