헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 9월 29일 [(백) 성 미카엘, 성 가브리엘, 성 라파엘 대천사 축일] <굳은 다짐으로 부르는 세례성사> Baptism, a Call to Commitment 하느님의 자녀들이 자유로 가는 길이요 공동체 로 살아가는 길인 세례성사를 받은 이는 제 나름 굳게 다짐해야 하는 겁니다. 이 성사에는 마술적이나 저절로 이뤄지는 건 없는 겁니다. 누군가가 “나는 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 세례를 줍니다."라고 말하면서 머리에 물을 부은 건 세례를 받은 이라는 우리의 신원(身元)이 지닌 영성의 진리를 가능한 모든 수단으로 기꺼이 내세우고 또 거듭 내세워야 지속적인 의미를 갖는 겁니다. 이러한 의미에서 세례성사는 세례 받은 자녀의 부모나 세례 받은 이 자신에게도 하나의 부르심(聖召)인 겁니다. 이 부르심은 어두운 세상 속에서 빛을 그리고 죽음이 똬리를 틀고있는 사회 속에서 줄기차게 생명을 선택하는 겁니다. "그러나 그분께서 빛 속에 계신 것처럼 우리도 빛 속에서 살아가면, 우리는 서로 친교를 나누게 되고, 그분의 아드님이신 예수님의 피가 우리를 모든 죄에서 깨끗하게 해 줍니다."(1요한1,7) Baptism, a Call to Commitment SEPTEMBER 29 Baptism as a way to the freedom of the children of God and as a way to a life in community calls for a personal commitment. There is nothing magical or automatic about this sacrament. Having water poured over us while someone says, “I baptise you in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” has lasting significance when we are willing to claim and reclaim in all possible ways the spiritual truth of who we are as baptised people. In this sense baptism is a call to parents of baptised children and to the baptised themselves to choose constantly for the light in the midst of a dark world and for life in the midst of a death-harbouring society.
