헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 6월 28일 [홍] 성 이레네오 주교 순교자 기념일 <아래로 내려간다는 것> Downward Mobility 우리가 살고있는 사회에서 수많은 방법으로 부추기는 길은 위를 향해 올라가는 겁니다. 꼭데기에 오르고, 남들의 눈길을 모으며, 신기록을 세우는 겁니다. 그러면 관심을 끌고 신문 첫 쪽에 실릴 수 있으며 돈과 명성이란 댓가까지 받을 수 있다는 겁니다. 예수님께서는 철저하게 다른 길을 가십니다.  그 길은 위를 향해 오르는 게 아니라 아래로 내려가는 겁니다. 밑바닥까지 내려가고 무대 뒤에 머물며 맨 끝자리를 고르는 겁니다!  어째서 예수님께서 가신 길이 선택하기에 합당하다는 건가요? 그길은 하느님 나라로 가는 길이요 예수님께서 걸어가신 길이며 또 영원한 생명으로 이끄는 길이기 때문입니다. Downward Mobility JUNE 28 The society in which we live suggests in countless ways that the way to go is up. Making it to the top, entering the limelight, breaking the record – that’s what draws attention, gets us on the front page of the newspaper, and offers us the rewards of money and fame. The way of Jesus is radically different. It is the way not of upward mobility but of downward mobility. It is going to the bottom, staying behind the sets, and choosing the last place! Why is the way of Jesus worth choosing? Because it is the way to the Kingdom, the way Jesus took, and the way that brings everlasting life.   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
