헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 7월 5일 <아버지의 사랑은 또한 어머니의 사랑이라는  것> A Father’s As Well As a Mother’s Love 되찾은 아들의 이야기에 나오는 아버지는 어머니이기도 합니다. 버선발로 달려나가 목을 껴안고 입을 맞추며 또 가장 좋은 옷과 반지와 신발을 챙겨 주고 더우기 아들을 위해 잔치를 벌이는 건 차갑고 냉정한 가부장의 특징과는 사뭇 다른 행동입니다. 그이들이 너무나도 살갑게 대하고 보듬어 보살피며 드러내지 않고 용서하는 모습에서 우리는 어머니다운 사랑도 아버지다운 사랑도  온전히 함께 있다는 걸 깨닫게 되는 겁니다. 하늘에 계신 하느님 아버지의 완전한 사랑은 아버지와 어머니가 자녀에게 줄 수 있는 모든 사랑을 품고 있으며 동시에 뛰어넘는 겁니다. 하느님의 두 손이 어머니의 손과 아버지의 손을 통해 우리 목을 껴안는 걸로 생각할 수 있는 겁니다. 한 손으론 보살피고 위로하며 또 위안을 베풀고, 다른 한 손으론 지원하고 격려하며 그리고 할 수 있는 힘을 실어 주는 겁니다. 우리의 소명도 집으로 돌아오길 바라는 이들에게 이런 아버지요 어머니가 되는 겁니다. A Father’s As Well As a Mother’s Love JULY 5 The father in the story of the prodigal son is mother as well. His running out to welcome his son, his embrace and kisses; his offering of the best robe, the ring, and the sandals; and his throwing a party are not the typical behaviour of a distant patriarch. They express so much tenderness, nurturing care, and self-effacing forgiveness that in them we see both motherly and fatherly love fully present. The perfect love of our heavenly Father includes as well as transcends all the love that a father and mother can have for their children. We may think about the two hands of God embracing us as a mother’s hand and a father’s hand: one caressing, consoling, and comforting, the other supporting, encouraging, and empowering.
