형제 여러분, 여러분은 자유롭게 되라고 부르심을 받았습니다. 다만 그 자유를 육을 위하는 구실로 삼지 마십시오. 오히려 사랑으로 서로 섬기십시오.

▶ For you were called for freedom, brothers. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather, serve one another through love.

사실 모든 율법은 한 계명으로 요약됩니다. 곧 “네 이웃을 너 자신처럼 사랑하여라.” 하신 계명입니다.

▶ But if you go on biting and devouring one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.

▶ I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh.

육이 욕망하는 것은 성령을 거스르고, 성령께서 바라시는 것은 육을 거스릅니다. 이 둘은 서로 반대되기 때문에 여러분은 자기가 원하는 것을 할 수 없게 됩니다.

▶ idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions,

질투, 만취, 흥청대는 술판, 그 밖에 이와 비슷한 것들입니다. 내가 여러분에게 이미 경고한 그대로 이제 다시 경고합니다. 이런 짓을 저지르는 자들은 하느님의 나라를 차지하지 못할 것입니다.
