나는 사람도 짐승도 쓸어버리고 하늘의 새와 바다의 물고기도 쓸어버리며 악인들을 비틀거리게 하리라. 사람도 땅 위에서 없애 버리리라. 주님의 말씀이다.

나는 유다에, 예루살렘의 모든 주민에게 손을 뻗어 그곳에서 나머지 바알 신상들을 그 우상 숭배 사제들의 이름과 함께 없애 버리리라.

주 하느님 앞에서 조용히 하여라. 주님의 날이 가까웠다. 주님이 희생 제물을 마련하고 초대받은 이들을 성별하였다.

주님의 말씀이다. 그날에 ‘물고기 대문’에서는 아우성 소리가, 신시가지에서는 울부짖는 소리가, 언덕들에서는 크게 부서지는 소리가 나리라.

그들의 재산은 약탈당하고 그들의 집은 황폐하게 되리라. 그들이 집을 짓는다 해도 거기에서 살지 못하고 포도밭을 가꾼다 해도 거기에서 난 포도주를 마시지 못하리라.

주님의 위대한 날이 가까웠다. 가까울뿐더러 득달같이 다가온다. 주님의 날에 들리는 소리는 쓰라리니 용사조차 비명을 지르리라.

주님의 분노의 날에 그들의 은도 그들의 금도 그들을 구하지 못하리라. 온 땅은 주님의 열정의 불에 타 버리리라. 주님은 세상의 모든 주민에게 정녕 무서운 파멸을 내리리라.
