너희가 이민족들에게 팔린 것은 멸망하기 위해서가 아니었다. 너희가 하느님을 진노하시게 하였기에 원수들에게 넘겨진 것이다.

▶ You were sold to the nations not for your destruction; It was because you angered God that you were handed over to your foes.

사실 너희는, 하느님이 아니라 마귀들에게 제사를 바쳐 너희를 만드신 분을 분노하시게 하였다.

▶ For you provoked your Maker with sacrifices to demons, to no-gods;

너희는 너희를 길러 주신 영원하신 하느님을 잊어버리고 너희를 키워 준 예루살렘을 슬프게 하였다.

▶ You forsook the Eternal God who nourished you, and you grieved Jerusalem who fostered you.

예루살렘은 너희에게 하느님의 진노가 내리는 것을 보고 이렇게 말하였다. “들어라, 시온의 이웃들아! 하느님께서 나에게 큰 슬픔을 내리셨다.

▶ She indeed saw coming upon you the anger of God; and she said: "Hear, you neighbors of Zion! God has brought great mourning upon me,

나는 영원하신 분께서 내 아들딸들에게 지우신 포로살이를 보았다.

▶ For I have seen the captivity that the Eternal God has brought upon my sons and daughters.

나는 그들을 기쁨으로 키웠건만 슬픔과 눈물로 그들을 떠나보내야 했다.

▶ With joy I fostered them; but with mourning and lament I let them go.

과부가 되고 많은 사람에게 버림받은 나를 두고 아무도 기뻐하지 말아 다오. 나는 내 자식들의 죄 때문에 황폐해졌다. 그들은 하느님의 율법을 멀리하고

▶ Let no one gloat over me, a widow, bereft of many: For the sins of my children I am left desolate, because they turned from the law of God,

그분의 규정들을 깨치지 못하였으며 하느님께서 주신 계명의 길을 가지도 않고 그분의 의로움에 따라 교훈의 행로를 걷지도 않았다.

▶ and did not acknowledge his statutes; In the ways of God's commandments they did not walk, nor did they tread the disciplined paths of his justice.

▶ "Let Zion's neighbors come, to take note of the captivity of my sons and daughters, brought upon them by the Eternal God.

그분께서는 먼 곳에서 한 민족을 그들에게 끌어들이셨다. 그 민족은 부끄러움을 모르고 다른 언어를 쓰며 노인을 존경하지 않고 아이들에게 무자비하였다.

▶ He has brought against them a nation from afar, a nation ruthless and of alien speech, That has neither reverence for age nor tenderness for childhood;

또한 그들은 과부가 사랑하는 아들들을 끌어가고 혼자된 여인에게서 딸들을 앗아 갔다.

▶ They have led away this widow's cherished sons, have left me solitary, without daughters.

그러나 내가 어떻게 너희를 도와줄 수 있겠느냐?

재앙을 내리신 바로 그분께서 너희 원수들의 손에서 너희를 빼내어 주시리라.

▶ He who has brought this evil upon you must himself deliver you from your enemies' hands.

|
나아가라, 아이들아, 나아가라. 나는 정녕 버려져 외롭게 되었다.

▶ Farewell, my children, farewell: I am left desolate.

|
나는 평화로울 때 입던 옷을 벗고 기도할 때 입는 자루옷을 둘렀다. 나는 영원하신 분께 한평생 부르짖으리라.

▶ I have taken off the garment of peace, have put on sackcloth for my prayer of supplication, and while I live I will cry out to the Eternal God.

아이들아, 용기를 내어 하느님께 부르짖어라. 그분께서 너희를 억압에서, 원수들의 손에서 빼내어 주시리라.

▶ "Fear not, my children; call upon God, who will deliver you from oppression at enemy hands.

나는 영원하신 분께서 너희를 구원하시기를 바랐다. 영원하신 너희 구세주께서 너희에게 곧 베푸실 자비로 말미암아 거룩하신 분에게서 나에게 기쁨이 왔다.

시온의 이웃들이 지금 너희의 포로살이를 보지만 머지않아 너희 하느님에게서 구원이 내리는 것도 보게 되리라. 그 구원은 영원하신 분의 큰 영광과 광채와 함께 너희에게 오리라.

▶ As Zion's neighbors lately saw you taken captive, so shall they soon see God's salvation come to you, with great glory and the splendor of the Eternal God.

아이들아, 하느님께서 너희에게 내리신 진노를 참아 내어라. 원수가 너를 박해하였으나 머지않아 너희가 그의 멸망을 보고 그들의 목을 밟게 되리라.

▶ "My children, bear patiently the anger that has come from God upon you; Your enemies have persecuted you, and you will soon see their destruction and trample upon their necks.

연약한 내 아이들은 험한 길을 걸어갔고 원수들에게 빼앗긴 양 떼처럼 끌려갔다.

▶ My pampered children have trodden rough roads, carried off by their enemies like sheep in a raid.

아이들아, 용기를 내어 하느님께 부르짖어라. 이 재앙을 내리신 주님께서 너희를 기억해 주시리라.

▶ Fear not, my children; call out to God! He who brought this upon you will remember you.

너희 마음이 하느님을 떠나 방황하였으나 이제는 돌아서서 열 배로 열심히 그분을 찾아야 한다.

▶ As your hearts have been disposed to stray from God, turn now ten times the more to seek him;

|
그러면 너희에게 재앙을 내리신 그분께서 너희를 구원하시고 너희에게 영원한 기쁨을 안겨 주시리라.”

용기를 내어라, 예루살렘아! 너에게 이름을 지어 주신 분께서 너를 위로하시리라.

너를 괴롭히고 네가 쓰러지는 것을 기뻐하던 자들은 불행하다.

▶ Fearful are those who harmed you, who rejoiced at your downfall;

|
네 아이들을 종으로 삼은 성읍들은 불행하다. 네 아들들을 잡아 둔 성읍도 불행하다.

|
▶ Fearful are the cities where your children were enslaved, fearful the city that took your sons.

|
그 성읍은 네가 쓰러지는 것을 기뻐하고 네가 망하는 것을 즐거워하였으니 저도 혼자된 신세를 슬퍼하리라.

▶ As that city rejoiced at your collapse, and made merry at your downfall, so shall she grieve over her own desolation.

그 성읍에 사는 큰 군중의 기쁨을 내가 앗아 가리니 그들의 자만이 슬픔으로 바뀌리라.

▶ I will take from her the joyous throngs, and her exultation shall be turned to mourning:

영원하신 분에게서 불이 내려와 그 성읍이 여러 날 타고 마귀들이 그곳에 오래 자리 잡으리라.

▶ For fire shall come upon her from the Eternal God, for a long time, and demons shall dwell in her from that time on.

예루살렘아, 동쪽으로 눈을 돌려 하느님에게서 너에게 오는 기쁨을 바라보아라.

▶ Look to the east, Jerusalem! behold the joy that comes to you from God.

|
보라, 네가 떠나보낸 아들들이 온다. 그들은 거룩하신 분의 말씀을 듣고 하느님의 영광을 기뻐하며 동쪽에서 서쪽까지 사방에서 모여 온다.

▶ Here come your sons whom you once let go, gathered in from the east and from the west By the word of the Holy One, rejoicing in the glory of God.
