"Order the Israelites to expel from camp every leper, and everyone suffering from a discharge, and everyone who has become unclean by contact with a corpse.
|

|
|
|
▶ “너는 이스라엘 자손들에게 명령하여, 악성 피부병 환자와 고름을 흘리는 사람과 주검에 닿아 부정하게 된 사람을 모두 진영 밖으로 내보내게 하여라.
|

|
Male and female alike, you shall compel them to go out of the camp; they are not to defile the camp in which I dwell."

|
|
▶ 너희는 남자 여자 가릴 것 없이 내보내야 한다. 그들을 진영 밖으로 내보내어, 내가 이스라엘 자손들 가운데에 머무르는 진영을 그들이 부정하게 만들지 않도록 해야 한다.”

|
The Israelites obeyed the command that the LORD had given Moses; they expelled them from the camp.

▶ 이스라엘 자손들은 이렇게 하여 그들을 진영 밖으로 내보냈다. 이스라엘 자손들은 주님께서 모세에게 이르신 대로 하였다.

"Tell the Israelites: If a man (or a woman) commits a fault against his fellow man and wrongs him, thus breaking faith with the LORD,
|

|
▶ “너는 이스라엘 자손들에게 일러라. 남자든 여자든 남에게 어떤 잘못을 저질러 주님을 배신할 경우, 그자는 죄인이 된다.
|
|

|
he shall confess the wrong he has done, restore his ill-gotten goods in full, and in addition give one fifth of their value to the one he has wronged.
|

|
|
|
▶ 그런 자는 자기가 저지른 잘못을 고백한 다음, 손해를 끼친 이에게 전액을 보상하고, 거기에 오분의 일을 더하여 갚아야 한다.
|

|
However, if the latter has no next of kin to whom restoration of the ill-gotten goods can be made, the goods to be restored shall be the LORD'S and shall fall to the priest; this is apart from the atonement ram with which the priest makes amends for the guilty man.

|
▶ 그러나 그 피해자에게 대신 보상을 받을 근친이 없으면, 속죄 예식에 쓰는 속죄 숫양은 물론이고 그 보상도 주님에게 돌아가 사제의 몫이 된다.

Likewise, every sacred contribution that the Israelites are bound to make shall fall to the priest.
|

▶ 이스라엘 자손들이 사제에게 가져오는 모든 거룩한 예물 가운데 흔들어 바치는 것은 모두 사제의 것이 된다.

|
Each Israelite man may dispose of his own sacred contributions; they become the property of the priest to whom he gives them."

▶ 각자의 거룩한 예물은 자기 것이 되지만, 누가 사제에게 준 것은 사제의 것이 된다.”

"Speak to the Israelites and tell them: If a man's wife goes astray and becomes unfaithful to him
|

|
|
|
|
▶ “이스라엘 자손들에게 일러라. 그들에게 이렇게 말하여라. ‘어떤 사람의 아내가 빗나가 남편을 배신하고
|
|

|
by having intercourse with another man, though her husband has not sufficient evidence of the fact, so that her impurity remains unproved for lack of a witness who might have caught her in the act;

|
|
▶ 다른 남자와 동침하였는데, 그 여자가 제 몸을 더럽힌 사실이 남편 눈에 드러나지 않고 감추어진 채, 증인도 없고 현장에서 붙들리지도 않았을 경우,

or if a man is overcome by a feeling of jealousy that makes him suspect his wife, whether she was actually impure or not:

▶ 남편이 질투심에 사로잡혀 실제로 몸을 더럽힌 아내를 의심하게 되거나, 또는 질투심에 사로잡혀 몸을 더럽히지 않았는데도 아내를 의심하게 되면,

|
he shall bring his wife to the priest and shall take along as an offering for her a tenth of an ephah of barley meal. However, he shall not pour oil on it nor put frankincense over it, since it is a cereal offering of jealousy, a cereal offering for an appeal in a question of guilt.

|
▶ 그 남편은 자기 아내를 사제에게 데리고 와야 한다. 아울러 아내 몫으로 보릿가루 십분의 일 에파를 예물로 가져와야 한다. 그 예물에는 기름을 따라서도 안 되고 유향을 얹어서도 안 된다. 그것은 질투의 곡식 제물이며, 죄를 상기시키는 기억의 곡식 제물이기 때문이다.

"The priest shall first have the woman come forward and stand before the LORD.
|

|
▶ 사제는 그 여자를 가까이 오게 하여 주님 앞에 세운다.

|
17
|
In an earthen vessel he shall meanwhile put some holy water, as well as some dust that he has taken from the floor of the Dwelling.
|

|
|
|
|
|
▶ 그런 다음에 사제는 거룩한 물을 옹기그릇에 떠 놓고, 성막 바닥에 있는 흙먼지를 긁어 그 물에 탄다.
|
|

|
Then, as the woman stands before the LORD, the priest shall uncover her head and place in her hands the cereal offering of her appeal, that is, the cereal offering of jealousy, while he himself shall hold the bitter water that brings a curse.

▶ 사제는 그 여자를 주님 앞에 세운 채 그 여자의 머리를 풀고, 기억의 곡식 제물 곧 질투의 곡식 제물을 그 여자의 두 손바닥에 얹어 놓는다. 사제 자신은 저주를 부르는 쓴 물을 손에 들고

Then he shall adjure the woman, saying to her, 'If no other man has had intercourse with you, and you have not gone astray by impurity while under the authority of your husband, be immune to the curse brought by this bitter water.
|

|
|
▶ 이렇게 말하며, 그 여자를 맹세하게 한다. ′다른 남자가 그대와 동침한 적이 없고, 그대가 남편 밑에 있으면서 빗나가 몸을 더럽힌 일이 없으면, 저주를 부르는 이 쓴 물이 그대에게 해를 끼치지 않을 것이다.

But if you have gone astray while under the authority of your husband and have acted impurely by letting a man other than your husband have intercourse with you' -

|
▶ 그러나 그대가 남편 밑에 있으면서 빗나가 몸을 더럽혔거나, 남편 아닌 다른 남자가 그대와 동침한 적이 있으면,

so shall the priest adjure the woman with this oath of imprecation - 'may the LORD make you an example of malediction and imprecation among your people by causing your thighs to waste away and your belly to swell!

▶ ─ 이때 사제는 그 여자에게 저주의 맹세를 하게 하면서 이렇게 말한다. ─ 주님께서 그대의 허벅지를 떨어져 나가게 하시고 그대의 배를 부풀어 오르게 하시어, 그대의 백성 가운데에서 그대를 저주와 맹세의 본보기로 만드실 것이다.

|
May this water, then, that brings a curse, enter your body to make your belly swell and your thighs waste away!' And the woman shall say, 'Amen, amen!'

▶ 이제 저주를 부르는 이 물이 그대의 창자 속에 들어가, 배를 부풀어 오르게 하고 허벅지를 떨어져 나가게 할 것이다.′ 그러면 그 여자는 ′아멘, 아멘!′ 하고 대답해야 한다.

|
The priest shall put these imprecations in writing and shall then wash them off into the bitter water,

|
▶ 사제는 이 저주를 글로 써서 그 쓴 물에 씻는다.
|
|

|
which he is to have the woman drink, so that it may go into her with all its bitter curse.
|

|
|
|
|
|
▶ 저주를 부르는 쓴 물을 그 여자에게 마시게 하면, 저주를 부르는 그 물이 몸 안에 들어가 쓰라리게 하는 것이다.

|
But first he shall take the cereal offering of jealousy from the woman's hand, and having waved this offering before the LORD, shall put it near the altar,
|

|
|
▶ 사제는 그 여자의 손에서 질투의 곡식 제물을 받아, 주님 앞에 흔들어 바치고 제단으로 가져온다.

|
where he shall take a handful of the cereal offering as its token offering and burn it on the altar. Only then shall he have the woman drink the water.
|

|
|
|
▶ 사제는 그 곡식 제물을 한 손 가득 퍼내어, 그것을 기념 제물로 제단 위에서 살라 연기로 바친다. 그런 다음에 그 물을 여자에게 마시게 한다.

|
Once she has done so, if she has been impure and unfaithful to her husband, this bitter water that brings a curse will go into her, and her belly will swell and her thighs will waste away, so that she will become an example of imprecation among her people.

▶ 그 물을 여자에게 마시게 하였을 때, 그 여자가 몸을 더럽히고 자기 남편을 배신하였으면, 저주를 부르는 그 물이 몸 안에 들어가 쓰라리게 할 것이다. 그 여자의 배를 부풀어 오르게 하고 그 여자의 허벅지를 떨어져 나가게 할 것이다. 그리하여 그 여자는 자기 백성 가운데에서 저주의 본보기가 될 것이다.

|
If, however, the woman has not defiled herself, but is still pure, she will be immune and will still be able to bear children.
|

▶ 그러나 그 여자가 몸을 더럽힌 일이 없이 깨끗하면, 해를 입지 않고 자식도 낳을 수 있을 것이다.

"This, then, is the law for jealousy: When a woman goes astray while under the authority of her husband and acts impurely,
|

|
▶ 이것이 질투에 관한 법이니, 여자가 남편 밑에 있으면서 빗나가 몸을 더럽혔거나,
|

|
or when such a feeling of jealousy comes over a man that he becomes suspicious of his wife, he shall have her stand before the LORD, and the priest shall apply this law in full to her.

|
▶ 남편이 질투심에 사로잡혀 자기 아내를 의심하게 되면, 그 여자를 주님 앞에 세우고, 사제는 이 법을 모두 그 여자에게 적용해야 한다.

|
The man shall be free from guilt, but the woman shall bear such guilt as she may have."

|
|
▶ 그러면 남편은 죄를 면하고 아내는 자기 죗값을 지게 된다.’”
