|
How the Lord in his wrath has detested daughter Zion! He has cast down from heaven to earth the glory of Israel, Unmindful of his footstool on the day of his wrath.

▶ 아, 주님께서 진노하시어 딸 시온을 먹구름으로 뒤덮으셨다. 이스라엘의 영광을 하늘에서 땅으로 내던지시고 당신 진노의 날에 당신의 발판을 기억해 주지 않으셨다.

|
The Lord has consumed without pity all the dwellings of Jacob; He has torn down in his anger the fortresses of daughter Judah; He has brought to the ground in dishonor her king and her princes.

▶ 야곱의 모든 거처를 주님께서 사정없이 쳐부수시고 딸 유다의 성채들을 당신 격노로 허무시고 나라와 그 지도자들을 땅에 쓰러뜨려 욕되게 하셨다.

He broke off, in fiery wrath, the horn that was Israel's whole strength; He withheld the support of his right hand when the enemy approached; He blazed up in Jacob like a flaming fire devouring all about it.

▶ 주님께서는 타오르는 진노로 이스라엘의 모든 뿔을 꺾으시고 원수 앞에서 당신 오른손을 거두시어 사방을 태우는 불길처럼 야곱을 사르셨다.

Like an enemy he made taut his bow; with his arrows in his right hand He took his stand as a foe, and slew all on whom the eye doted; Over the tent of daughter Zion he poured out his wrath like fire.

▶ 당신의 오른손을 드시고 원수처럼 당신 활을 당기시어 우리 눈에 보배로운 것들을 적군인 양 모두 죽이시고 딸 시온의 천막에 당신 분노를 불처럼 퍼부으셨다.

The Lord has become an enemy, he has consumed Israel: Consumed all her castles and destroyed her fortresses; For daughter Judah he has multiplied moaning and groaning.

▶ 주님께서는 원수처럼 되시어 예루살렘을 쳐부수셨다. 그 모든 궁궐들을 쳐부수시고 그 성채들을 허물어뜨리시어 딸 유다에게 애통과 비애를 더하셨다.

He has demolished his shelter like a garden booth, he has destroyed his dwelling; In Zion the LORD has made feast and sabbath to be forgotten; He has scorned in fierce wrath both king and priest.

▶ 그분께서는 당신 초막을 정원처럼 허물어뜨리시고 당신 축제의 자리를 헐어 버리셨다. 주님께서는 시온에서 축제와 안식일을 잊게 하시고 당신 진노의 열기 속에 임금과 사제를 물리쳐 버리셨다.

The Lord has disowned his altar, rejected his sanctuary; The walls of her towers he has handed over to the enemy, Who shout in the house of the LORD as on a feast day.

▶ 주님께서는 당신의 제단을 버리시고 당신의 성소를 더럽히셨다. 그 궁궐들의 성벽을 적의 손에 넘기시니 주님의 집에서 축제의 날처럼 함성이 울렸다.

The LORD marked for destruction the wall of daughter Zion: He stretched out the measuring line; his hand brought ruin, yet he did not relent - He brought grief on wall and rampart till both succumbed.

▶ 주님께서 딸 시온의 성벽을 허물기로 작정하시어 측량줄을 치시고 쳐부수실 때까지 당신 손을 거두지 않으시며 누벽과 성벽을 통곡하게 하시니 이들이 다 함께 스러져 간다.

Sunk into the ground are her gates; he has removed and broken her bars. Her king and her princes are among the pagans; priestly instruction is wanting, And her prophets have not received any vision from the LORD.

▶ 성문들은 먼지 속에 파묻혀 있고 빗장들은 그분께서 깨뜨려 부수어 버리셨다. 임금과 고관들은 민족들 사이에 흩어지고 가르침은 더 이상 주어지지 않으며 예언자들은 주님에게서 어떤 환시도 받지 못한다.

On the ground in silence sit the old men of daughter Zion; They strew dust on their heads and gird themselves with sackcloth; The maidens of Jerusalem bow their heads to the ground.

▶ 딸 시온의 원로들은 땅바닥에 말없이 앉아 머리 위에 먼지를 끼얹고 자루옷을 둘렀으며 예루살렘의 처녀들은 머리를 땅에까지 내려뜨렸다.

Worn out from weeping are my eyes, within me all is in ferment; My gall is poured out on the ground because of the downfall of the daughter of my people, As child and infant faint away in the open spaces of the town.

▶ 나의 딸 백성이 파멸하고 도시의 광장에서 아이들과 젖먹이들이 죽어 가는 것을 보고 있자니 내 눈은 눈물로 멀어져 가고 내 속은 들끓으며 내 애간장은 땅바닥에 쏟아지는구나.

They ask their mothers, "Where is the cereal?" - in vain, As they faint away like the wounded in the streets of the city, And breathe their last in their mothers' arms.

▶ “먹을 게 어디 있어요?” 하고 그들이 제 어미들에게 말한다, 도성의 광장에서 부상병처럼 죽어 가면서, 어미 품에서 마지막 숨을 내쉬면서.

To what can I liken or compare you, O daughter Jerusalem? What example can I show you for your comfort, virgin daughter Zion? For great as the sea is your downfall; who can heal you?

▶ 딸 예루살렘아 나 네게 무엇을 말하며 너를 무엇에 비기리오? 처녀 딸 시온아 너를 무엇에다 견주며 위로하리오? 네 파멸이 바다처럼 큰데 누가 너를 낫게 하리오?

|
Your prophets had for you false and specious visions; They did not lay bare your guilt, to avert your fate; They beheld for you in vision false and misleading portents.

▶ 너의 예언자들이 네게 환시를 전하였지만 그것은 거짓과 사기였을 뿐. 저들이 네 운명을 돌리려고 너의 죄악을 드러내지는 않으면서 네게 예언한 신탁은 거짓과 오도였을 뿐.

All who pass by clap their hands at you; They hiss and wag their heads over daughter Jerusalem: "Is this the all-beautiful city, the joy of the whole earth?"

▶ 길 가는 자들은 모두 너를 보고 손뼉을 쳐 댄다. 딸 예루살렘을 보고 휘파람 소리 내며 머리를 흔들어 댄다. “‘아름다움의 극치요 온 누리의 기쁨’이라 하는 도성이 이것이란 말이지?” 하고 빈정대면서.

All your enemies open their mouths against you; They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say, "We have devoured her. This at last is the day we hoped for; we have lived to see it!"

▶ 너의 원수들은 모두 너를 비웃어 휘파람 불고 이를 갈며 말하는구나. “우리가 쳐부숴 버렸지. 그래, 오늘은 우리가 기다리던 날. 마침내 이날을 보게 되는군.”

The LORD has done as he decreed: he has fulfilled the threat He set forth from days of old; he has destroyed and had no pity, Letting the enemy gloat over you and exalting the horn of your foes.

▶ 주님께서는 뜻하신 바를 이루셨다. 옛날에 선포하신 당신의 말씀을 실행하셨다. 사정없이 허무시고 원수가 너를 보며 기뻐하게 하시고 적들의 뿔을 쳐들어 주셨다.

Cry out to the Lord; moan, O daughter Zion! Let your tears flow like a torrent day and night; Let there be no respite for you, no repose for your eyes.

▶ 주님께 소리 질러라, 딸 시온의 성벽아. 낮에도 밤에도 눈물을 시내처럼 흘려라. 너는 휴식을 하지 말고 네 눈동자도 쉬지 마라.

Rise up, shrill in the night, at the beginning of every watch; Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord; Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your little ones (Who faint from hunger at the corner of every street).

▶ 밤에도 야경이 시작될 때마다 일어나 통곡하여라. 주님 면전에 네 마음을 물처럼 쏟아 놓아라. 길목마다 굶주려 죽어 가는 네 어린것들의 목숨을 위하여 그분께 네 손을 들어 올려라.

"Look, O LORD, and consider: whom have you ever treated thus? Must women eat their offspring, their well-formed children? Are priest and prophet to be slain in the sanctuary of the LORD?

▶ 보소서, 주님, 살펴보소서, 당신께서 누구에게 이런 일을 하셨는지. 여인들이 제 몸의 소생을 잡아먹어야 하겠습니까, 애지중지하는 그 어린것들을? 사제와 예언자가 주님의 성전에서 죽임을 당해야 하겠습니까?

"Dead in the dust of the streets lie young and old; My maidens and young men have fallen by the sword; You have slain on the day of your wrath, slaughtered without pity.

▶ 어린이와 늙은이는 길바닥에 쓰러져 있고 저의 처녀들과 총각들은 칼에 맞아 쓰러졌습니다. 당신 진노의 날에 당신께서 죽이셨습니다. 당신께서 사정없이 도살하셨습니다.

"You summoned as for a feast day terrors against me from all sides; There was not, on the day of your wrath, either fugitive or survivor; Those whom I bore and reared my enemy has utterly destroyed."

▶ 당신께서는 축제 날에 사람들을 불러 모으듯 제가 무서워하는 것들을 사방에서 불러들이셨습니다. 주님 진노의 날에는 살아난 자도 도망한 자도 없습니다. 제가 애지중지하며 키운 것들을 제 원수들이 모두 절멸시켰습니다.
