지혜가 부른다 The Discourse of Wisdom
1 지혜가 부르고 있지 않느냐? 슬기가 목소리를 높이고 있지 않느냐? 1 Does not Wisdom call, and Understanding raise her voice?
2 지혜가 언덕 위, 거리가 내려다보이는 곳에, 네거리에 서 있다. 2 On the top of the heights along the road, at the crossroads she takes her stand;
3 성읍 어귀 성문 곁에서, 여러 대문간에서 외친다. 3 By the gates at the approaches of the city, in the entryways she cries aloud:
4 “사람들아, 내가 너희를 부른다. 너희 인간들에게 내 목소리를 높인다. 4 "To you, O men, I call; my appeal is to the children of men.
5 어리석은 이들아, 영리함을 터득하여라. 우둔한 이들아, 마음을 깨쳐라. 5 You simple ones, gain resource, you fools, gain sense.
6 들어라, 나는 고귀한 것들을 말하고 내 입술에서는 올바른 것들이 흘러나온다. 6 "Give heed! for noble things I speak; honesty opens my lips.
7 내 입은 진실을 말하고 내 입술은 불의를 역겨워한다. 7 Yes, the truth my mouth recounts, but the wickedness my lips abhor.
8 내가 하는 말은 모두 의로울 뿐 거기에는 교활한 것도 음흉한 것도 없다. 8 Sincere are all the words of my mouth, no one of them is wily or crooked;
9 그 모든 말이 깨닫는 이에게는 옳고 지식을 찾는 이에게는 바르다. 9 All of them are plain to the man of intelligence, and right to those who attain knowledge.
10 너희는 은이 아니라 내 교훈을 받고 순수한 금이 아니라 지식을 받아라. 10 Receive my instruction in preference to silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold.
11 지혜는 산호보다 낫고 온갖 귀중품도 그것에 비길 수 없다.” 11 (For Wisdom is better than corals, and no choice possessions can compare with her.)
지혜의 자기소개
12 “나 지혜는 영리함과 함께 살며 지식과 현명함을 얻었다. 12 "I, Wisdom, dwell with experience, and judicious knowledge I attain.
13 주님을 경외함은 악을 미워하는 것이다. 그래서 나는 교만과 거만과 악의 길을, 사악한 입을 미워한다. 13 (The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;) Pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth I hate.
14 나에게는 조언과 통찰이 있다. 나는 곧 예지이며 나에게는 힘이 있다. 14 Mine are counsel and advice; Mine is strength; I am understanding.
15 내 도움으로 임금들이 통치하고 군주들이 의로운 명령을 내린다. 15 By me kings reign, and lawgivers establish justice;
16 내 도움으로 제후들이 다스린다. 의롭게 판결하는 수령들도 모두 마찬가지다. 16 By me princes govern, and nobles; all the rulers of earth.
17 나를 사랑하는 이들을 나는 사랑해 주고 나를 찾는 이들을 나는 만나 준다. 17 "Those who love me I also love, and those who seek me find me.
18 나에게는 부와 영예가 있고 오래고 존귀한 재산과 번영도 있다. 18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
19 내 열매는 금보다 순금보다 낫고 내 소출은 순수한 은보다 낫다. 19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than pure gold, and my revenue than choice silver.
20 나는 정의의 길을, 공정의 길 한가운데를 걷는다. 20 On the way of duty I walk, along the paths of justice,
21 그리하여 나는 나를 사랑하는 이들에게 재산을 물려주고 그들의 보물 곳간을 채워 준다.” 21 Granting wealth to those who love me, and filling their treasuries.
지혜와 창조
22 “주님께서는 그 옛날 모든 일을 하시기 전에 당신의 첫 작품으로 나를 지으셨다. 22 "The LORD begot me, the first-born of his ways, the forerunner of his prodigies of long ago;
23 나는 한처음 세상이 시작되기 전에 영원에서부터 모습이 갖추어졌다. 23 From of old I was poured forth, at the first, before the earth.
24 심연이 생기기 전에, 물 많은 샘들이 생기기 전에 나는 태어났다. 24 When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no fountains or springs of water;
25 산들이 자리 잡기 전에, 언덕들이 생기기 전에 나는 태어났다. 25 Before the mountains were settled into place, before the hills, I was brought forth;
26 그분께서 땅과 들을, 누리의 첫 흙을 만드시기 전이다. 26 While as yet the earth and the fields were not made, nor the first clods of the world.
27 그분께서 하늘을 세우실 때, 심연 위에 테두리를 정하실 때 나 거기 있었다. 27 "When he established the heavens I was there, when he marked out the vault over the face of the deep;
28 그분께서 위의 구름을 굳히시고 심연의 샘들을 솟구치게 하실 때, 28 When he made firm the skies above, when he fixed fast the foundations of the earth;
29 물이 그분의 명령을 어기지 않도록 바다에 경계를 두실 때, 그분께서 땅의 기초를 놓으실 때 29 When he set for the sea its limit, so that the waters should not transgress his command;
30 나는 그분 곁에서 사랑받는 아이였다. 나는 날마다 그분께 즐거움이었고 언제나 그분 앞에서 뛰놀았다. 30 Then was I beside him as his craftsman, and I was his delight day by day, Playing before him all the while,
31 나는 그분께서 지으신 땅 위에서 뛰놀며 사람들을 내 기쁨으로 삼았다.” 31 playing on the surface of his earth; and I found delight in the sons of men.
지혜의 말씀을 듣는 이의 행복
32 “그러니 이제, 아들들아, 내 말을 들어라. 행복하여라, 내 길을 따르는 이들! 32 "So now, O children, listen to me;
33 내 교훈을 들어 지혜로워지고 그것을 가볍게 여기지 마라. 33 instruction and wisdom do not reject! Happy the man who obeys me, and happy those who keep my ways,
34 행복하여라, 내 말을 듣는 사람! 날마다 내 집 문을 살피고 내 대문 기둥을 지키는 사람! 34 Happy the man watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts;
35 나를 얻는 이는 생명을 얻고 주님에게서 총애를 받는다. 35 For he who finds me finds life, and wins favor from the LORD;
36 그러나 나를 놓치는 자는 제 목숨을 해치고 나를 미워하는 자는 모두 죽음을 사랑한다.” 36 But he who misses me harms himself; all who hate me love death."
