on the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai:

|
Tell this to the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, and to the high priest Joshua, son of Jehozadak, and to the remnant of the people:

▶ “너는 스알티엘의 아들 즈루빠벨 유다 총독과 여호차닥의 아들 예수아 대사제와 나머지 백성에게 말하여라.

|
Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Does it not seem like nothing in your eyes?

▶ ‘너희 가운데 이 집의 옛 영화를 본 사람들이 남아 있지 않느냐? 지금은 이 집이 너희에게 어떻게 보이느냐? 너희 눈에도 있으나마나 하지 않느냐?

But now take courage, Zerubbabel, says the LORD, and take courage, Joshua, high priest, son of Jehozadak, And take courage, all you people of the land, says the LORD, and work! For I am with you, says the LORD of hosts.

This is the pact that I made with you when you came out of Egypt, And my spirit continues in your midst; do not fear!

For thus says the LORD of hosts: One moment yet, a little while, and I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.

▶ ─ 정녕 만군의 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. ─ 머지않아 나는 다시 하늘과 땅 바다와 뭍을 뒤흔들리라.

I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will come in, And I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts.

Mine is the silver and mine the gold, says the LORD of hosts.

Greater will be the future glory of this house than the former, says the LORD of hosts; And in this place I will give you peace, says the LORD of hosts.

On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of King Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Haggai:

Thus says the LORD of hosts: Ask the priests for a decision:

▶ “만군의 주님이 말한다. 너는 사제들이 어떤 가르침을 내릴지 이렇게 물어보아라.
|
|

|
If a man carries sanctified flesh in the fold of his garment and the fold touches bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any other food, do they become sanctified? "No," the priests answered.
|

▶ ‘어떤 사람이 봉헌된 고기를 옷자락에 담아 가져가는데, 그 옷자락이 빵이나 삶은 요리나 포도주나 기름이나 다른 어떤 음식에 닿으면, 그것들도 거룩해집니까?’” 그렇게 하자 사제들은 “아닙니다.” 하고 대답하였다.

Then Haggai said: If a person unclean from contact with a corpse touches any of these, do they become unclean? The priests answered, "They become unclean."
|

▶ 하까이가 다시 “주검에 닿아서 부정하게 된 이가 이 모든 것 가운데 어느 것에라도 닿으면, 그것이 부정하게 됩니까?” 하고 물으니, 사제들이 “부정하게 됩니다.” 하고 대답하였다.

|
Then Haggai continued: So is this people, and so is this nation in my sight, says the LORD: And so are all the works of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.
|

▶ 그러자 하까이가 말하였다. “내 앞에서는 이 백성도 그러하고 이 민족도 그러하다. 주님의 말씀이다. 그들의 손이 하는 일도 모두 그러하다. 그들이 거기에서 바치는 것들도 다 부정하다.”

But now, consider from this day forward. Before there was a stone laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD,

how did you fare? When one went to a heap of grain for twenty measures, it would yield but ten; When another went to the vat to draw fifty measures, there would be but twenty.

▶ 너희가 하는 일들이 어떠하였느냐? 누가 스무 섬 더미에 가면 열 섬밖에 없고 쉰 동이를 푸려고 포도 확에 가면 스무 동이밖에 없었다.

I struck you in all the works of your hands with blight, searing wind, and hail, yet you did not return to me, says the LORD.

▶ 내가 마름병과 깜부깃병과 우박으로 너희가 손으로 가꾼 모든 것을 쳤지만 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다. 주님의 말씀이다.

(Consider from this day forward: from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. From the day on which the temple of the LORD was founded, consider!)

Indeed, the seed has not sprouted, nor have the vine, the fig, the pomegranate and the olive tree yet borne. From this day, I will bless!

The message of the LORD came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month:

|
Tell this to Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah: I will shake the heavens and the earth;

▶ “너는 유다 총독 즈루빠벨에게 이렇게 말하여라. ‘나는 하늘과 땅을 뒤흔들리라.
|

|
I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms, destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots and their riders, and the riders with their horses shall go down by one another's sword.

On that day, says the LORD of hosts, I will take you, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, my servant, says the LORD, And I will set you as a signet ring; for I have chosen you, says the LORD of hosts.

▶ 만군의 주님의 말씀이다. 그날에 스알티엘의 아들, 나의 종 즈루빠벨아 ─ 주님의 말씀이다. ─ 내가 너를 받아들여 너를 인장 반지처럼 만들리니 내가 너를 선택하였기 때문이다.’ 만군의 주님의 말씀이다.”
