내 영혼의 깊은 밤 중에 단 한 소리 내 안에 머무네.

나를 인도하는 이의 목소리...

오직 그 안에서 나는 느낄 수 있다네.

1916년 12월 4일 Benedetto신부님께 보내는 편지

In the midst of this deep night  of the soul one thing...is left to me: the voice of the one who guides me...Only in this do I [feel]...a slight calm in the midst of so many storms.

LETTER TO PADRE BENEDETTO

DECEMBER 4, 1916

바로 그때에 주님께서 지나가시는데, 크고 강한 바람이 산을 할퀴고 주님 앞에 있는 바위를 부수었다. 그러나 주님께서는 바람 가운데에 계시지 않았다. 바람이 지나간 뒤에 지진이 일어났다. 그러나 주님께서는 지진 가운데에도 계시지 않았다. 지진이 지나간 뒤에 불이 일어났다. 그러나 주님께서� 불 속에도 계시지 않았다. 불이 지나간 뒤에 조용하고 부드러운 소리가 들려왔다.    열왕기 상권 19장 11절~12절

Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence.
