이 메시아적 배성은 현실적으로는 모든 사람을 다 포함하지 못하고, 가끔 작은 무리로 보이지만, 그것은 전 인류를 위하여 일치와 희망과 구원의 가장 강력한 싹이 되는 것이다. 그리스도께서 생명과 사랑과 진리의 일치를 위하여 선정하신 이 백성을 또한 모든 사람의 구원을 위한 도구로 삼으시고 세상의 빛과 땅의 소금으로 삼아, 온 세상에 파견하신다.

 Itaque populus ille messianicus, qumvis universos homines actu non comprehendat, et non semel ut pusillus prex appareat, pro toto tamen genere humano firmissimum est germen unitatis, spei et salutis. A Christo in communionem vitae, caritatis et veritatis constitutus, ad eo etiam ut instrumentum redemtionis omnium assumitur, et tamquam lux mundi et sal terrae ad universum mumdum emittitur.

This messianic people, then, though it does not in fact embrace all mankind and often seems to be a tiny flock, is yet the enduring source of unity, hope and salvation for the whole human race. It is established by Christ as a communion of life, of love and of truth; it is also used by him as an instrument for the redemption of all, and is sent out into the whole world as the light of the world and the salt of the earth.
