생명을 주는 보배로운 십자가  Pretiosa et vivifica crux Christi / The precious and life-giving cross of Christ:

십자가의 선물은 얼마나 보배롭습니까! 그것을 바라보는 것은 얼마나 아름답습니까! 그것에는 에덴의 옛 나무처럼 선과 악이 혼합되어 있지 않습니다. 그것은 바라보기에도 아름답고 맛보기에도 달콤합니다. 십자가는 죽음이 아닌 생명을 주는 나무입니다. 어두움이 아닌 빛의 근원입니다. 그것은 여러분을 에덴의 낙원으로 들어가게 하며 여러분을 거기서 내쫓지는 않습니다.

O pretiosissimum donum crucis! Euge, qualis in aspectu splendor! Non prae se fert speciem ex bono et malo commistam, ut lignum illud in Eden, sed totum pulchrum et speciosum est et visu et gustatu. Est enim lignum, vitam, non mortem, procreans; illuminans, non obscurans; introducens in Eden, non educens. 

How precious the gift of the cross, how splendid to contemplate! In the cross there is no mingling of good and evil, as in the tree of paradise: it is wholly beautiful to behold and good to taste. The fruit of this tree is not death but life, not darkness but light. This tree does not cast us out of paradise, but opens the way for our return.
