헨리 나웬  신부님(1932-1996)의 오! 그리고 늘! 4월 6일 <겸손하면서 자신감을 가진다는 것> Being Humble and Confident 별을 보며 수 많은 은하계 속으로 마음이 이리 저리 거니노라면 우리가 너무나 작고 보잘 것 없게 느끼져 행동하고 말하며 또는 생각하는 게 무엇이든 전혀 쓰잘 데 없어 보입니다. 하지만 우리 영혼을 들여다 보고 끝없는 내면의 은하계 속으로 마음을 거닐게 한다면 거물이 되어 행동하고 말하며 생각하는 모든 것들이 아주 중요하게 보일 겁니다. 해서 우리는 두가지 모습을 간직해야 하는 겁니다. 늘 겸손하되 자신감에 넘치고, 익살스러우면서 진지하고 놀이를 하는듯 하면서 책임감을 가지는 겁니다. 그렇습니다. 사람은 아주 작으면서도 동시에 아주 큰 겁니다. 우리를 영성으로 깨어 있게 하는 건 바로 이 두 모습이 서로 긴장 관계에 있기 때문입니다. Being Humble and Confident APRIL 6 As we look at the stars and let our minds wander into the many galaxies, we come to feel so small and insignificant that anything we do, say, or think seems completely useless. But if we look into our souls and let our minds wander into the endless galaxies of our interior lives, we become so tall and significant that everything we do, say, or think appears of great importance. We have to keep looking both ways to remain humble and confident, humorous and serious, playful and responsible. Yes, the human person is very small and very tall.
