헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘 ! 12월 25일 [예수 성탄 대축일] <화해의 임무> The Task of Reconciliation 이 세상에서 하느님의 자녀요 예수님의 형제 자매로서 우리의 임무은 무엇일까요? 그건 화해입니다. 어디를 가든 가족, 지역사회, 도시, 국가, 대륙 등에서 사람들끼리 갈라진 걸 볼 수 있습니다. 이 모든 갈라짐은 슬프게도 우리가 하느님을 떠났다는 걸 나타냅니다. 모든 이가 하느님께서 다스리는 한 가족의 구성원으로 함께 하고 있다는 진리는 좀처럼 찾기 어렵습니다. 하여 우리의 거룩한 임무는 일상 생활의 현장에서 그 진리를 드러내는 겁니다. 어째서 그게 우리의 임무일까요? 하느님께서 그리스도를 보내시어 우리를 하느님과 화해시키시고, 우리에게는 사람들을 서로 화해시키는 임무를 주셨기 때문입니다. 그리스도를 통해 사람들이 하느님과 화해하였으므로 우리는 화해의 직분을 맡게 된 겁니다.(2코린 5,18 참조). 그러니 무슨 일을 하든 우선 이렇게 물어야 하는 겁니다. 이 일을 통해 사람들이 화해할 수 있을 것인가? The Task of Reconciliation DECEMBER 25 What is our task in this world as children of God and brothers and sisters of Jesus? Our task is reconciliation. Wherever we go we see divisions among people – in families, communities, cities, countries, and continents. All these divisions are tragic reflections of our separation from God. The truth that all people belong together as members of one family under God is seldom visible. Our sacred task is to reveal that truth in the reality of everyday life. Why is that our task? Because God sent Christ to reconcile us with God and to give us the task of reconciling people with one another. As people reconcile with God through Christ we have been given the ministry of reconciliation” (see: 2 Corinthians 5:18).
