헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오 ! 그리고 늘 ! 2월 24일 <비밀을 밝힌다는 것> Bringing Our Secrets into the Light 우리 모두에겐 비밀이 있습니다. 나만이 간직하는 생각이나 추억, 느낌들입니다. 해서 자주 이런 생각을 합니다. "내 생각이나 느낌을 아는 사람은 나를 사랑하지 않을거야." 남이 알까 조심스레 간직하는 비밀들탓에 우리는 많은 상처를 입을 수도 있습니다. 죄책감이나 수치심을 느낄 수도 있고, 자기 부정, 우울증, 심지어 자살을 마음먹거나 하기까지 이를 수 있는 겁니다. 이 비밀을 두고 우리가 할 수 있는 가장 중요한 한가지 일은 안전한 자리에서 믿음이 가는 이와 비밀을 나누는 겁니다. 좋은 방법으로 비밀을 밝히고 남들과 성찰할 수 있다면 비밀을 홀로 끌어안지 않고 또 믿음이 가는 친지들이 예전보다 더 깊고 더 가깝게 사랑하게 될 것임을 곧 깨우칠 겁니다. 우리가 비밀을 밝힘으로써 공동체가 만들어지고 내면의 상처가 낫게 되는 겁니다. 비밀을 서로 나누고 나면 다른 이들은 우리를 더 온전하게 사랑할 뿐만 아니라 우리도 자신을 더 오달지게 사랑할 겁니다. Bringing Our Secrets into the Light FEBRUARY 24 We all have our secrets: thoughts, memories, feelings that we keep to ourselves. Often we think, “If people knew what I feel or think, they would not love me.” These carefully kept secrets can do us much harm. They can make us feel guilty or ashamed and may lead us to self-rejection, depression, and even suicidal thoughts and actions. One of the most important things we can do with our secrets is to share them in a safe place, with people we trust. When we have a good way to bring our secrets into the light and can look at them with others, we will quickly discover that we are not alone with our secrets and that our trusting friends will love us more deeply and more intimately than before. Bringing our secrets into the light creates community and inner healing. As a result of sharing secrets, not only will others love us better but we will love ourselves more fully. † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘. |
