헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오 ! 그리고 늘 ! 3월 10일 <우리가 받은 남다른 부르심이라는 것> Our Unique Call 하루 하루 너무나 많은 끔찍한 일들이 일어나기에 우리가 하는 몇 가지 일이 과연 무슨 의미가 있는건가 헤아리게 됩니다. 불과 몇 천 리 떨어진 데서 사람들이 굶주리고, 국경선 가까이서 전쟁이 치열하게 벌어지며, 우리가 사는 도시에 수많은 사람들이 살 집이 없다면 우리가 하는 일들이 헛된 것처럼 여겨질 겁니다. 하지만 그러한 생각을 하다보면 힘이 빠져 버리고 우울한 기분도 들 수 있습니다. 바로 여기서 부르심이란 낱말이 소중하게 다가옵니다. 우리가 부르심을 받은 건 세상을 구원하고, 모든 문제거리를 해결하며 모든 이를 돕는다는건 아닙니다. 하지만 가정에서나 일에서나 이세상에서나 우리 한사람 한사람은 남다른 부르심을 받고 있는 겁니다. 우리는 하느님께 그 부르심이 무엇인지 명확하게 깨닫게 도와주시고 또 믿음으로 그 부르심에 따라 살아갈 수 있는 힘을 주시도록 끊임없이 간구해야 합니다. 그러면 우리가 작은 일을 충실히 하는 것이야말로 이 시대의 질병들을 가장 잘 고칠 수 있는 응답임을 깨닫게 될 겁니다. Our Unique Call MARCH 10 So many terrible things happen every day that we start wondering whether the few things we do ourselves make any sense. When people are starving only a few thousand miles away, when wars are raging close to our borders, when countless people in our own cities have no homes to live in, our own activities look futile. Such considerations, however, can paralyse us and depress us. Here the word call becomes important. We are not called to save the world, solve all problems, and help all people. But we each have our own unique call, in our families, in our work, in our world. We have to keep asking God to help us see clearly what our call is and to give us the strength to live out that call with trust. Then we will discover that our faithfulness to a small task is the most healing response to the illnesses of our time. † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘. |
