헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오 ! 그리고 늘 ! 3월 20일 <장터 속의 고요한 자리> A Still Place in the Market "너희는 멈추고 내가  하느님인줄 알아라"(시편 46:11)입니다. 바쁘게 살아가는 우리들이 새겨야 할 말씀입니다. 어쩌면 우리는 이 멈춘다는 걸 시끄러운 세상과 반대 개념으로 생각할지 모릅니다. 하지만 한발 더 나아가 심지어는 업무를 하거나, 가르치거나, 공사장에서 일하거나, 음악을 연주하면서 또는 모임을 준비하면서도 마음 속으로는 멈출 수 있는 겁니다. "장터"같은 데서 고요한 자리를 마련하는 건 중요한 일입니다. 이 고요한 자리는 바로 하느님께서 머무시며 우리에게 말씀하시는 곳입니다. 또 이 자리는 바쁘게 살아가면서 만나는 모든 이들에게 말을 건내며 감정의 골을 메울 수 있는 곳이기도 합니다. 이 고요한 자리가 없다면 우리는 맴돌기 시작합니다. 의욕만 넘치는 사람이 되어 가야할 방향도 제대로 잡지 못한 채로 여기 저기로 달음박질하게 되는 겁니다. 하지만 우리가 멈추고  고요해지면 하느님께서는 우리가 생각하고 말하며 또는 움직이는 모든 걸 인자로이 이끌어 주실 수 있는 겁니다. A Still Place in the Market March 20 “Be still and acknowledge that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). These are words to take with us in our busy lives. We may think about stillness in contrast to our noisy world. But perhaps we can go further and keep an inner stillness even while we carry on business, teach, work in construction, make music, or organise meetings. It is important to keep a still place in the “marketplace.” This still place is where God can dwell and speak to us. It also is the place from where we can speak in a healing way to all the people we meet in our busy days. Without that still space we start spinning. We become driven people, running all over the place without much direction. But with that stillness God can be our gentle guide in everything we think, say, or do.
