헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 4월 3일 헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 4월 3일 <받는 것이 중요하다는 것> The Importance of Receiving 종종 받는 게 주는 것보다 더 어려운 일입니다. 주는 것은 아주 중요한 겁니다. 통찰하는 힘과 희망을 주며, 용기와 조언을 주며, 지원을 하고 돈을주며, 그 무엇보다 자신을 내어 주는 것이기 때문입니다. 주는 게 없다면 형제 자매라는 관계도 없는 겁니다. 하지만 받는 것도 마찬가지로 중요합니다. 우리가 받음으로써 주는 이들에게 줄 수 있는 선물이 있음을 드러내 주기 때문입니다. “고맙습니다. 제게 희망을 주셨습니다. 고맙습니다. 제가 살아갈 이유를 일러 주셨습니다. 감사합니다. 덕분에 제 꿈을 실현할 수 있었습니다.”라고 말하면서 우리는 주는 이들에게 둘도 없이 소중한 선물을 지니고 있다는걸 깨우치는 겁니다. 종종 주는 이들이 제 선물을 깨닫게 되는 건 오로지 받는 이들의 두 눈을 볼 때 입니다. The Importance of Receiving APRIL 3 Receiving is often harder than giving. Giving is very important: giving insight, giving hope, giving courage, giving advice, giving support, giving money, and most of all, giving ourselves. Without giving there is no brotherhood and sisterhood. But receiving is just as important, because by receiving we reveal to the givers that they have gifts to offer. When we say, “Thank you, you gave me hope: thank you, you gave me a reason to live; thank you, you allowed me to realize my dream,” we make givers aware of their unique and precious gifts. Sometimes it is only in the eyes of the receivers that givers discover their gifts. 거기에는 유다인들의 정결례에 쓰는 돌로 된 물독 여섯 개가 놓여 있었는데, 모두 두세 동이들이였다. 예수님께서 일꾼들에게 “물독에 물을 채워라.” 하고 말씀하셨다. 그들이 물독마다 가득 채우자, 예수님께서 그들에게 다시, “이제는 그것을 퍼서 과방장에게 날라다 주어라.” 하셨다. 그들은 곧 그것을 날라 갔다. 과방장은 포도주가 된 물을 맛보고 그것이 어디에서 났는지 알지 못하였지만, 물을 퍼 간 일꾼들은 알고 있었다. 그래서 과방장이 신랑을 불러 그에게 말하였다. “누구든지 먼저 좋은 포도주를 내놓고, 손님들이 취하면 그보다 못한 것을 내놓는데, 지금까지 좋은 포도주를 남겨 두셨군요.”(요한2,6-10) Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now." - John 2: 6 - 10 (NIV) Receiving is often harder than giving.
