헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 4월 12일 성주간 화요일 <자비의 권위라는 것> The Authority of Compassion 대개 우리는 엄청난 권위가 있는 이들은 높디 높은 데 멀리 떨어져 있어 다가가기 힘들걸로 생각합니다. 그러나 영성의 권위는 자비에서 나오기에 권위에 “순명”하는 이들과 내적으로 맺는 깊은 연대에서 드러납니다. 우리와 온전히 같으면서 우리의 기쁨과 고통 또는 희망과 열망을 깊이 이해하며 우리와 동행하길 바라고 또 그럴 수 있는 이들에게 우리는 흔쾌히 권위를 내어주고 기꺼이 “종”이 되어 섬길 수 있는 겁니다. 일할 수 있는 힘을 주고, 격려하며, 숨겨진 재능을 끌어 내고, 큰 일을 이루게 하는 건 바로 자비로운 권위입니다. 영성의 참된 권위는 역삼각형의 꼭지점에 자리잡고 지도력을 펼치는 모든 이들을 지원하고 빛 속에 머물게 하는 겁니다. "나는 이 복음을 위하여 선포자와 사도와 스승으로 임명을 받았습니다. 그러한 까닭에 나는 이 고난을 겪고 있지만 부끄러워하지 않습니다. 나는 내가 누구를 믿는지 잘 알고 있으며, 또 내가 맡은 것을 그분께서 그날까지 지켜 주실 수 있다고 확신합니다. 그리스도 예수님 안에서 주어지는 믿음과 사랑으로, 나에게서 들은 건전한 말씀을 본보기로 삼으십시오. 우리 안에 머무르시는 성령의 도움으로, 그대가 맡은 그 훌륭한 것을 지키십시오."(2티모1,11-14) The Authority of Compassion APRIL 12 Mostly we think of people with great authority as higher up, far away, hard to reach. But spiritual authority comes from compassion and emerges from deep inner solidarity with those who are “subject” to authority. The one who is fully like us, who deeply understands our joys and pains or hopes and desires, and who is willing and able to walk with us, that is the one to whom we gladly give authority and whose “subjects” we are willing to be. It is the compassionate authority that empowers, encourages, calls forth hidden gifts, and enables great things to happen. True spiritual authorities are located in the point of an upside-down triangle, supporting and holding into the light everyone they offer their leadership to. "And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.
