헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 4월 29일 <남들에게 쓸모있는 삶이 된다는 것> Making Our Lives Available to Others 글을 쓰지 않는 이유로 자주 드는 말 가운데 이런게 있습니다. “제게 새롭게 드릴 말은 없어요. 무슨 말을 하든 누군가 이미 한 말이고 저보다 더 좋은 말인데요.” 하지만 이런 말은 글을 쓰지 않는 이유치곤 썩 좋은 건 아닙니다. 사람은 누구나 세상에 둘도 없이 처음 나타난 존재이고 우리와 똑같이 산 이는 단 한 사람도 없는 겁니다.  더구나 우리가 살아온 게 우리 자신뿐만 아니라 남들을 위해서도 살았다는 겁니다. 해서 글쓰기는 우리가 사는 걸 자신은 물론 남들에게도 쓸모있게 해주는 매우 창의적이고 활력을 주는 수단이 될 수 있는 겁니다 우리가 사는 이야기가 남들도 마땅히 들어줄만한 거라고 믿어야 합니다. 우리 이야기를 잘 들려주면 들려줄수록 더 잘 살고싶은 마음이 든다는 걸 깨닫게 될 겁니다. . "하느님, 당신은 저의 하느님, 저는 당신을 찾습니다. 제 영혼이 당신을 목말라합니다. 물기 없이 마르고 메마른 땅에서 이 몸이 당신을 애타게 그립니다.  당신의 자애가 생명보다 낫기에 제 입술이 당신을 찬미합니다. 제가 잠자리에서 당신을 생각하고 야경 때에도 당신을 두고 묵상합니다.  정녕 당신께서 제게 도움이 되셨으니 당신 날개 그늘 아래서 제가 환호합니다. 제 영혼이 당신께 매달리면 당신 오른손이 저를 붙들어 주십니다.(시편63, 2,4,7-9) Making Our Lives Available to Others APRIL 29 One of the arguments we often use for not writing is this: “I have nothing original to say. Whatever I might say, someone else has already said it, and better than I will ever be able to.” This, however, is not a good argument for not writing. Each human person is unique and original, and nobody has lived what we have lived. Furthermore, what we have lived, we have lived not just for ourselves but for others as well. Writing can be a very creative and invigorating way to make our lives available to ourselves and to others. We have to trust that our stories deserve to be told. We may discover that the better we tell our stories the better we will want to live them. "Oh God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.
