헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 5월 31일 < 박해 받으시는 예수님> Jesus Is Persecuted 하느님께서 사랑하시고 마음에 드시는 아드님, 예수님께서는 박해를 받으십니다. 가난하고 온유하며 슬퍼하는 이, 의로움에 주리고 목말라하는 이, 자비로우며 마음이 깨끗하고 평화를 이루는 이는 이 세상에선 찬밥 신세입니다. 하느님의 축복을 받은 분께서는 기존 질서를 위협하고 자신들을 세상의 지배자라고 여기는 이들에게는 늘 눈엣가시 같은 분이십니다. 예수님께서는 누구를 고발하지 않는 데도 고발자로 여기고, 뭐라고 비난도 하지 않는 데 사람들은 죄의식과 부끄러움을 느끼며, 심판도 하지 않는 데 뵙는 것만으로도 심판을 받는다는 느낌이 들게 하십니다. 그러니 그이들이 그분을 보기에 아무 일도 아닌 것처럼 있을 수 없으며 도저히 살려둘 수가 없는 겁니다. 그분을 그대로 두는 게 자기들의 죄를 고백하는 걸로 보이기 때문입니다. 예수님을 닮으려면 남들이 늘 좋아하고 존경하는 걸 바랄 수는 없는 겁니다. 해서 우리도 남들이 얼굴을 돌리며 내칠 수 있다는 각오를 단단히 해야 하는 겁니다. "나는 너희를 더 이상 종이라고 부르지 않는다. 종은 주인이 하는 일을 모르기 때문이다. 나는 너희를 친구라고 불렀다. 내가 내 아버지에게서 들은 것을 너희에게 모두 알려 주었기 때문이다. 너희가 나를 뽑은 것이 아니라 내가 너희를 뽑아 세웠다. 너희가 가서 열매를 맺어 너희의 그 열매가 언제나 남아 있게 하려는 것이다. 그리하여 너희가 내 이름으로 아버지께 청하는 것을 그분께서 너희에게 주시게 하려는 것이다. 내가 너희에게 명령하는 것은 이것이다. 서로 사랑하여라. 세상이 너희를 미워하거든 너희보다 먼저 나를 미워하였다는 것을 알아라."(요한15,15-18) Jesus Is Persecuted MAY 31 Jesus, the favorite Child of God, is persecuted. He who is poor, gentle, mourning; he who hungers and thirsts for uprightness; is merciful, pure of heart and a peacemaker is not welcome in this world. The Blessed One of God is a threat to the established order and a source of constant irritation to those who consider themselves the rulers of this world. Without his accusing anyone he is considered an accuser, without his condemning anyone he makes people feel guilty and ashamed, without his judging anyone those who see him feel judged. In their eyes, he cannot be tolerated and needs to be destroyed, because letting him be seems like a confession of guilt. When we want to become like Jesus, we cannot expect always to be liked and admired. We have to be prepared to be rejected. "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know the master's business. Instead I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit -- fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is what I say: Love each other. If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." - John 15: 15-18 (NIV)   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
